*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

The moron calls it the new N97 no N95 wait no E75 LMAO

But seriously, Nokia is calling that there next communicator? I do like the device but c'mon

I hear ya.....I'm also waiting for this phone, but other phones are coming out soon that may be of interest to me.....I want to support Nokia and S60, but not releasing one of (IMO) their best phones right now in NAM is just inexcusable.

N97 was 629$ on Nokiausa.com yesterday and now it's gone. We will have to wait and see about the price drop of N86, I paid 450$ for it and I'm happy with it.

my keyboard is a little scratched too but I don't mind at all. You have to look at it under glare to notice...
I like the phone overall... It's the only competition to my N97 Mini...

actually, voice over edge and 3g are good. there is a very slight digital sound to the other persons phone ring when i dial a call, but when they answer all sounds great on my end. i am on rogers in toronto.

Yeah, hard reset now and the puzzle piece will go away, and the music folder icon will return.

To get rid of the ovi chat, go to your active standby settings and change from ovi to horizontal.

awfjam,
Those Hawaii pics look familiar, were those on the Big Island? We were there in Feb. this year. The first one looks like Laupahoehoe Point.

The one with the rainbow is great :clapping: .

xenon or no xenon i hope this phone have a great built quality better than the n82. the n82 its tought and wont break so easily but its really easy to scratch material kills me.

Yeah I wasn't really making any kind of objective argument either, just stating why I'm more interested in the N86 at the moment than the N900. I think the latter's form factor is going to become essentially the standard, if hype around the Droid is any indication, so I'm more keen to pick up the (arguably) best example of a non-touch smart slider featurephone, since it might just be one of the last.

Yeah, that's one thing I have noticed with the n86 and indoor shots. Outdoor shots come out great, but indoor shots with no flash come out looking smeared or or water color look as some have said.

Really haven't been playing with the settings, except changing white balance when under florescent light or else it comes out blue tint.

And the crappy shutter button probably doesn't help. You have to really concentrate to keep it stable. Actually saw a document online about nokia trying to change the camera button on a certain build but something went wrong and they had to revert. Just a bad design. Should be as easy to take the pic as autofocus.

Hope the next update makes some major improvements to the camera.

The phone should have an option to let the user choose whether he/she wants high quality/big file size photos or lower quality photos that are smaller in file size (for sharing sites). Why all the noise reduction and high compression stuff?
