*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

I will be at the store today, hopefully it is a reasonable price .... I am itching to experience the un-NSeries like build quality.

I loved the E71 when I had it and I want to go back to an S60 with a qwerty keyboard. I don't like the slide out keyboard design, i.e. N97, E75 etc...So naturally I'm going to get the E72 over the E71 since it's an upgrade.

Keepin up is almost impossible. One of the major problems with following gadgets is that the next best thing is always on the horizon, therefore by the time what you want hits the market, you know that the next best thing is coming, and you wait and wait and wait.

A good portion of the reasons i want the n86 is for the numeric pad, if things keep going the way they are, it may be the last good phone we ever see that's not a touch screen or a qwerty phone.

not trying to flame you or anything but after the first n85 proved inferior why bother getting 2 more ? were you expecting the build quality to improve ? :befuddled

I don't think anyone here is arguing that we should make the camera sensor worse. I think people here, including myself whom are arguing for a xenon, are just generally disappointed with Nokia having a flagship camera phone without it. Until a company comes out with LED flash as good as Xenon, including stand alone camera, I will have my reservations about it. We will see though if Nokia's N86 will be the first...it may just be, but we will all have to wait.

I agree with your point here. Companies should pay more attention to lenses and sensors. However, the best point and shoot camera phone, and most people would agree is the N82, makes it good because of the xenon.....even in good lighting conditions. It has a very good sensor and lense, plus the added bonus of great low light shooting or in the dark. I could care less about 8mpx personally...if they just updated the N82 in a different form factor and more friendly keypad it would have been a good update IMO.

Stoked that Nokia kept the "breathing" option on this phone (love it on my 85), However i wish they would of left it on the dpad instead of moving it to the new menu key. Im a little wherry of those soft keys.. i like physical keys.

Well there's not that many reviews on the w995 yet. I know SE's walkman phone can't compete with their Cybershot line, but I like the walkman features on the SE's. I'm just going to wait until more people get the N86 and the w995 and see what their experiences are. Plus, who knows when the NAM versions will be out. :disappoin

Agreed. I'm an avid user of Yelp (if you are too, go ahead and friend me http://rayluc.yelp.com ) and I would love if my phone could take decent enough pictures to post into my reviews. In fact, taking pictures when I go out with my friends, which is mostly at night, mind you, will be when I use the camera the most. Night time or in a restaurant = xenon, not LED.

I wonder what they could have removed, then, to make room for xenon. Maybe it simply wasn't possible. After all, there are NO sliders that have xenon as of right now. I guess you just can't fit in a xenon unless it has the thickness of a candybar.

This next generation LED thing better have me creaming my pants.

to add words to the T9 library, you just have to attempt to type a word, and when it doesnt come up there should be an option that asks you to spell the word. actually there should even be a menu option for this.

or what i do is just attempt to type the word in t9 mode, and manually spell out the word each letter at a time, but keep it in t9 mode, not multi tap, and all it takes is one word and it is now added to my library.

so just once and its added. i'm talking on my 5800 by the way. but nokia has fixed all this with their t9 library and it works much better than it did years ago with the n95. for example the library never deletes words, it stays updated forever and remembers EVERYTHING. literally.
