Ive seen it advertised till the 17th dec but thats one showing on a wednesday ! i think its just been shown occasionally ,not on the same scale as last month!
I have just come back from the cinema and I have to say I loved it,
it was funny and i was really surprised by the singing
little apology though if anyone was in the cinema I was in sorry about the dreadful out of tune singing that was going on through the whole film, (that was my mum and her friend )
Oh I never stayed until the end of the credits. I don't remember a piano on the water either, that might have been the bit I dropped off at.
It's not lame because I never saw it coming. It's lame because I frankly didn't care. I mean, on the scale of twists and shock revelations, it hardly ranks along there with "Luke, I am your father!", does it?
He wasn't even really a major character, well I suppose he was as major as the other two guys who all turned up like the three stooges every 10 minutes or so.
The 'revelation' was pointless, and irrelevant, Meryl Streep might as well have revealed she was wearing false teeth; "Shee my teesh ish falshers, an you all fell for it! ha ha ha ha! Becaush I can shtill shing jusht ash well wish no teesh!"
I suppose they added that in to appeal to the stereotypical gay musical-loving bloke. I would have found that offensive if I was such a bloke, the fact he just decides he's gay and then grabs the nearest bloke and gets it on with him was second only in inanity to Julie Walters deciding to get it on with that other bloke right at the end. I mean, WTF?
Jesus Wept. That's it, I'm recording MY cover versions of all the ABBA songs, me, my cat, and some bagpipes - we are going to be rich!
I do like musicals yes. For example I adored Chicago and Dreamgirls. Also, I love Abba!
Maybe it was all the hype about MM that made me expect something different to what it was. I don't know.
I know 20 mins is not long but it was all I could endure.
Fair play to those who enjoyed it and got the feel good factor from it. It just wasn't for me.
Folk look at me like I crawled out from under a stone when I tell them I didn't like it. FGS.
Fair enough, you are under no obligation to read my criticisms of this film, or justify why you think I am wrong. Although one would have to question why you frequent a discussion forum if you are not willing to discuss anything. Maybe there should be an 'agreement forum' where everyone just agrees with each other all the time?
ive seen hundreRAB of reviews of mm and roughly about 90% give it 10/10 and love it and the other 10% decimate it no in betweens you either love it or hate it!!.....personally i think it is a brilliant funny emotional film with great music and being the father of a 19 year old daughter i can relate to the story of a daughter seeking her father and the emotional joys and sadness of that search ...again everyone is entitled to ther opinion
I went to see this last night along with other half.. and totally loved the film. I was laughing out loud, tapping my feet, and yes, crying as well, felt completely uplifted coming out of the cinema. I stayed right through the credits (unmissable LOL) .. even til the end of Thank you for the music in case I missed anything. Will be buying the DVD as soon as it comes out, and in the meantime will be recommending the film to all my mates, and see who I can get to come and see it second time around.
Favorite bit was 'Our last summer', but that's always been my favorite Abba song.
I didn't even mind PB singing, it all added to the charm
