Mamma Mia!

Because they came out at the same time I guess.

Yeah filmfan, the press were all reporting it yesterday.. it appeared on BBC Three news, Teletext, etc. which is why I knew it was official :D

I knew after weeks and weeks of following the progress that I'd find out from a different source to where the weekly figures come in! Haha..

And as for Mamma Mia! being a cheap load of cack, cheer up and just enjoy the film for what it's supposed to be.. a light hearted film.. we're not claiming it to be some sort of artistic masterpiece.

I have never seen any film in my life twice in one week - but this one I couldn't resist - I smiled for the entire performance and cried for some of it - it was so wonderful to be able to laugh and escape - julie Walters is excellent

and anyone that can't relax into the unpretentious charm of it neeRAB to lighten up - not saying it would everyone's favourite film just that there's nothing to hate about it - just an escapist film with lots of not too perfect people in which makes a relfreshing change

Aha! So the truth is out - the real reason you like the movie is because of shorty Seyfried ;)

Indeed, we should remember that if someone says "why would they hire people who can't sing for a musical" - they didn't. They hired people who could sing - for the musical. They hired people who could act for the movie. :)

Wonder what joy you're getting out of all this.
Your post contained nothing of substance, and was only out to rile a response.
Also against T&Cs.

TOTTALY disagree !! the choreography was good dancing singing story acting and most important humour ,meryl streep did an oscar winning performance and you have to take mamma mia as it is a bit of fun great humour and down to earth and dosent take itself too seriously and great abba music!!...my only critisism was it was too short and should have used more songs ...again everyone is entitled to their opinion but 9 out of 10 people love it !!

My sister and I went yesterday afternoon (2 for 1) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cinema was full with mostly young people.

Pierce was not too bad singing but I would have preferred Colin to have sung more. He looked delightful. I thought the young man playing the bridegroom was great as was Sophie. And I liked Glenn Close, Julie Walters and the other Dynamo - who was she?

Hopefully the DVD will come in a special edition ... one for the ladies with a bonus Pierce Brosnan CD! :D:p

Comedy Gold ;)

And I can't wait for his new L'Oreal advert "when I'm not worrying about global warming, saving the whale or shooting my new movies, I like to relax by looking after my roots and singing a few bars of Fernando" :p

APHRODITEEE!
As in the fountain; goddess of love and all that.

Didn't get it myself either after about 50 watches of the film. Only got it once my friend mentioned it to me, and she knew..

I think I'll go and see it again next week. Just to help it try and reach number 2 of course:p

I've seen MM more times than I've ever seen a film at the cinema. I hardly ever go more than once.

Be warned, the film is very faithful to the stage version and a lot of the people behind the stage production were also involved in the movie so it may not be your cup of tea to be honest....!!!

Erm, I am responding to the question of whether I think the film will be nominated for any Oscars. In case I didn't make it clear, the answer is no, I don't think it will (although I think the question may not have been a serious one)

Please don't be so defensive.

Haven't read the whole thread sorry...but wanted to say the live show is a MILLION times better than the film. Yes, you can get big names and a nice location with the film......but you cannot beat a West End show...everyone was up in their seats and dancing out of the aisles at the end with the rest of the crew. I have seen it 3 times, haven't seen it for over a year now though, getting withdrawal symptoms. I was singing and dancing to Dancing Queen with some American guy at the end...he was nice. :D

Go see it live!! :D
