Mamma Mia!

Well as long as we don't have to go to the cinema together, okay. ;)

I'm sure we could have some rivetting conversations, what with your incisive wit, and well-formed argumentative skills.

I know. I can read.

I know I can read. I was the one who said that.

And so i informed you that was the problem, you don't know the film, only the first 20 minutes.

Others may have wanted to leave the cinema after the first 20 minutes but thought that would be embarrassing, and so they stayed and slowly but surely it worked its magic on them

You don't know what would have happened since you didn't see it :)

It will enter the Top 20 of all time.

It will harder to climb once it's in the Top 20 as the gaps in grosses between the movies are much bigger.

But somewhere between 20 to 15 i think which is amazing for a musical.

If that's the case, that's going to make my two girls very happy!

I've seen the film once, and I was a bit hummy hawwy over it as in going to see it, but I'm glad I did - brilliant movie and also a very good laugh. Julie Walters is very good in it.

I hate to say this but.....

I hated the movie! I love Abba music and was really looking forward to this as I love all musicals pretty much.

I thought the singing, dancing and acting from everyone apart from the young girl was rubbish and I was just waiting for it to end!

So glad I didn't pay to see it at the cinema and that I borrowed the dvd!!

*Gets coat and leaves, quickly!*

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

You make me laugh!

:D

By the way, I looked up the T&Cs of RAB and it turns out this can't be an 'appreciation only' thread, as they are only allowed in the Reality TV section, so all those people who think this film sucks dead cats, there is no need to be intimidated by the more vocal fanatics, you can SPEAK YOUR BRAINS freely, and tell the TRUTH, this film was a stinker.

I wonder if there's an official source we can get information from, then.

I've been relying on Screen Rush and the NYTimes website for my information.. but maybe they're not as reliable as other websites?

i read that the abba guys said that they didnt expect their to be a sequel but then went on to say no one had contacted them and if they did they would look at it!!which seems to me they wouldnt say no! ....personally i think they should leave it be as surely they couldnt surpass the origional film?

I love ABBA but hate musicals, so this was always going to be an interesting one....

I was tempted to just leave after the first ten minutes, what with the mad idea that the daughter was 20 ( she looked 16 at best) and trying to work out what was going on when they introduced so many characters all at once. I am glad I stayed, though. While I didn't think much of the film itself or the singing to be honest, Julie Walters was an absolute treat. I was just willing everyone else to get on with it so we could focus on her more:D

The other friend was also incredibly watchable, but it's strange that they made the three daRAB so integral to the plot, yet did pretty much nothing with them. I perked up a bit when they did the flashbacks of them as young men, thinking that was going to lead into their backstory, but no luck....

Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of ten, and every single one of those points is for Julie Walters.

i am glad the people generally love it, because if i listened to the critics panning of mamma mia i would not be going. then again, there have been other good movies and musicals that have been panned that went on to take awarRAB and lives of their own.

Did what exactly? what exactly did you do?

And this of course is nothing to do with the fact that it's been showing for six months and counting?

100% agree. Best film of 2007 for me, i miss the hype and seeing the music videos on music shows.

Bought the soundtrack love it, still listen to it now :p

Why will it not come to Birmingham!!?

And quick question, what does Donna say to Sophia at the very end when the water pipe bursts and they're all in slow-mo? I can't make it out.
