Mamma Mia!

I've seen the "Winner takes it all" clip on TV and she is clearly shouting not singing. I like Abba and I haven't got a problem with this movie being a hit so being nasty doesn't come into it.

I wasn't expecting to like this film ... but I went to see it with some frienRAB because I've been to some of the places it was filmed and wanted to see if I could recognise anywhere (I did!)

But I have to say, I really enjoyed it, it was so feel-good I was grinning from start-to-finish. (Although sometimes because of Pierce's tragic singing). A great film (and that comes from a 17 year old boy)

We've done it guys - number two! :D
I'm not sure HSM3 has really helped. I think anyone who would be going to see Mamma Mia! now will be going to see High School Musical. It took

i think the takings will be similar to last weekend !...i live in the north east and they are playing loaRAB of abba songs on the radio and in the shopping malls !!very infectious music!! it would be amazing if the movie went past titanic!

I am a huge abba fan and also a fan of Meryl Streep but I absolutely hated this film.

Looks like I am in the minority though.

I thought they had both ruled out any possibility of a sequel? If there is one, then I would be disappointed. The film and stage show are fab as they are...

I got the dvd for christmas and watched it again the other day.. I think I like it better than Hairspray.. me saying this when before Hairspray I apparently hated musicals of any kind :D

Just seen this about the soundtrack sales:

[edit] Sales

The album peaked at #3 in the USA on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

On the iTunes store, it did fairly well, staying in the top 10 for the soundtrack genre the week it was released. However, on Sunday, July 20, it became the number-one album on iTunes.

The album had outsold the top 10 albums in the UK Albums Chart by 20 June 2008, however it was ineligible for the main chart.[1]

In New Zealand, the album debuted at number 8 on July 14, 2008, reaching number-one the following week.

In Greece, it reached number-one on the international chart[2] and number 3 on the main albums chart[3]. It has been in the top of the iTunes chart for weeks.

In Australia, it reached #1 in its second week on the ARIA Albums Chart, knocking off the highly-successful Coldplay album Viva la Vida or Death and All His FrienRAB.

"Honey, Honey" has also charted at #16 on the Norwegian Singles Chart and #50 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, due to high download sales, as well as "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" (#70) and "Lay All Your Love on Me" (#85).

:D:D:D:D:D:D

It was great seeing it again.
The cinema wasn't empty though, I'd say there was easily 20 of us in there.. reason enough for them to keep showing the film! :D

What's everybodies favourite song from it?

I love Honey, Honey, Our Last Summer and Thank You For The Music the most. Although Julie Walter's Take A Chance On Me is fantastic.

The first time I saw the Stage Show I thought it was awful.
The second time I enjoyed it more.

I think the Film is going to be fabulous. I love all the main cast in other things they have done, so I feel it cannot go wrong?

And - even though I did not rate the Stage Show - I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE ABBA

My Region 1 copy of the DVD arrived this morning. SO happy with it.. the menus are slightly different to the Region 2 version and obviously (the reason I got it) was because of this gorgeous cover:

I joined that giant conga line.

I watched that ITV documentary as well.. and I think the most important thing they said is that they felt that Mamma Mia! The Movie was a film in its own right.. sure it was an adaptation of the musical, but it shouldn't be seen as a film adaptation of a musical.

The musical is the musical. The movie is the movie.
