Why dont we go ahead and tattoo our identities on the back of our hands? Maybe every citizen should be required to have an electronic signature device planted inside them.

no shit, he provided driver's license and SS card and that was not enough to prove it to the ICE agents.

and since driving commercially is not a right but job, they do have the authority to ask you to prove it with a birth cert or passport.

But personally I agree, there should be a National ID card, and ONLY US Citizens can get it (under penalty of 20 years in prison at hard labor and IMMEDIATE deportation after that), and ANY government services given will REQUIRE that it be shown, you need to show it to vote in ANY election, and that you be required to show it to law enforcement when asked (or your green card or visa) or be deported, etc, etc, etc.

The Democrats still have a majority in the Senate, Congress and the White House ... so where is it ... IF the Democrats are serious about it?
 
The whole entire idea of living in a free country is that you do not need to be carrying your information with you everywhere you go.
 
If you're asked for your ID while driving, it's a totally different case than if you're asked for your ID while walking down the street.
