So, if I walk to the community swimming pool to swim and a cop asks me for my license / birth certificate / SSN / star sign, and I don't have my wallet on me, does the cop have the right to detain me? (I am brown)

You still cannot come up with a good enough reason as to why he needs to carry a birth certificate.

No, you're confusing "nothing" with reasonable suspicion.

No, like I said, reasonable suspicion is that a cop needs suspicion based on a REASONABLE INFERENCE that you have committed, are in the process of committing, or are about to commit a crime. There's a big difference. "I don't know you, and some stuff sometimes happens here" is not reasonable suspicion.

Oh, so you didn't actually say "any little tickle in his shorts"? My bad, who actually said it?

you mean like when I went to the DMV to get my drivers' license?

Or if I lose my social security card?

NOOOOOOOO ITS A POLICDE STATE I DONT WANNA!!111 WAHHHHHH

Umm, a cop seeing someone driving around in an area where drugs are sold is reasonable suspicion, haven't you ever watched Cops?

Any little tickle in his shorts is not in reference to "hmm, i feel like just stopping this guy", it's in reference to "hmm, that guy seems to be acting strange to me, let's check out why he is acting so weird". The first is not legal, the 2nd is. You're confusing probable cause with reasonable suspicion. Like I said, go back to daydreaming about shooting a guy in the back.

because the laws and rules for crossing the border as they existed in april say he does?

Yes, I get all my legal information from a stupid tv show that shows police regularly violating people's rights.

Neither of those is reasonable suspicion. Neither is a REASONABLE INFERENCE based on specific and articulable facts. Anything that doesn't implicate a particular person is not reasonable suspicion. That means "anybody who passes through a high crime area" is not reasonable suspicion. Quit trying to sound like you know what you're talking about, because you don't.

For the 100th fucking time. We should not have to carry our birth certificate. That is the point.

If he was a white guy he would have been let go and not asked to prove his place of birth. All this law will do is exacerbate what is already happening.

ok, keep on believing whatever you want in Joe_Cool world and I'll keep believing my good friend who is a prosecuting attorney in Columbus.

Having a birth certificate is something that all truck drivers have to carry around now?

And now I know to stay out of Columbus, because the prosecuting attorneys don't know reasonable suspicion from a hole in the ground.

Then why wasn't he charged with anything? That would indicate suspicion. He had all of his paper work except a birth certificate.

One fucking week after this thing is passed and it's already starting

Conservatives are constantly being proven wrong.
