Which country (within the Anglosphere) makes the best music?

Most of my favourite artists are Brits, but I dont suppose it matters too much were music comes from. Hasn't most modern music got its roots in the blues anyway?

Ah, my vote just put U.S. over the U.K. - I could have easily voted for the U.K. though,
as much of what I listen to is British/Irish rock. I like Z.Z. Top and Grand Funk Railroad.
You won't hear music like that coming from Europe!

he has a great classic rock voice with incredible power and range. he literally does not sing in the same way that conventional signers do; it cannot be taught.

he sings in tune too, so that's a plus.

A smattering of funk and soul? I would say it evolved pretty much directly out out of funk and soul, that's hardly a smattering.

And let me just say for the record, my wife comes from a Jamaican family. Many of her aunts and uncles were born in Jamaica but were raised in NYC in the earliest years of hip-hop and they all talk about the original hip-hop shows they went to see back in the day and the people they were into. Not a single one of the people they talk about are from the West Indies, they are all from the New York area. And these relatives are people born in Jamaica with lots of roots still to this day in Jamaica but when they talk about early hip-hop they are talking about NYC.

Likewise I think the influence of European electronic music on hip-hop is often overstated. It's true that Afrika Barabaataa sampled Kraftwerk but there's not too much beyond that. If anything, the electronic music coming out of Detroit and Chicago was a much bigger influence.

No, I know it wasn't you who made that claim. My original post was in response to someone else, Jackhammer I think. Anyway, it's all good. I like Kraftwerk and Cybotron but easily prefer Kraftwerk. And you have a great taste in electronic music and I love you for it. The end. :beer:

Idiot.

Dude, you can't even name a single blues artist. Have you even listened to anything outside of rock? If you consider those blues artists, then get bent. I have nothing more to say to you except ignorance is bliss. BTW nice avatar you have there, he's an american right?

influencing=/=inventing , in case you didn't know

blues artists influenced rock, they didn't invent it. rock artists invented rock... historical examples FTW! :)

i tired to think of all the banRAB i really dig from the us
i honestly couldnt come up with all that many...
it was pitiful compared to how many Uk banRAB i like

and the only good canadians i could think of were crystal castles and neil young

This is a pointless thread. No country does one genre of music better than the other, same goes on a broader scale. Good banRAB are everywhere, you just have to look harder in some places. :)
