Which country (within the Anglosphere) makes the best music?

I forgot where it was recorded! But it was still predominantly written by Australians and one Englishman! So out of a 75% majority, we'll claim it as an Aussie album! :)

I've been getting more into American banRAB lately, but thats probably because I live in the US now and have way more exposure to American music.... and to my suprise, its every bit as excellent as the UK and Aussie banRAB I also love...

Yeah, fair enough. However Friday on My Mind is probably one of the reasons why I've never bothered to check out more of their stuff. I really dislike the song, probably due to the fact that over here it is immensely overplayed on classic radio stations and given way too much hype than I think it deserves. It just seems unoriginal and just like a blatant kind-of copy of other music from that era.

Not used lastfm for about 2 years, but I doubt my listening habits have changed that much.
The unknown quantity will probably be untagged songs. Chances are they're rare soul tracks which will originate from the U.S.A..

America invented Rap? Pfft. It comes from jamacian sounRABystems and european electronic music with a smattering of funk and soul. The Jamacians were 'toasting' in the 60's!

Aus and NZ should be able to pool our musical talent in ANZAC tradition, but even then we can't measure up.

I would basically call it even between America and the UK, I love so many artists from each it would be impossible to choose.

naivety isn't flattering. also,

WRONG.

RAB. jackhammer you know as well as I do that hip-hop's emergence in the world might have been crafted from a menagerie of styles but it was largely the work of american artists to bear its fruit...

hahaha with regarRAB to indie-electro banRAB...there is a lot of bad
but there is good (I like to think mine is ok)
check out some mates of mine, super fun happy band
they make it work real well

The UK, and really not just because I'm from there I just truly believe the music presently coming out of the UK is of a better standard. Other might disagree and that's fine.

Interesting how opinions differ because I think the exact opposite is true.

Anything that came out of the States in the early 90s was pretty much just a big budget pale version of what had already came out in the mid to late 80s from there,Grunge, hip hop & stadium rock.. and that was about it.
Whereas in Britain you had tons of new stuff cropping up everywhere. Tip hop, Shoegaze, dance music, Electronica, Baggy & Britpop. You had small labels popping up all over the place & they actually got press & public attention.
On the other hand by 1996 british music ground to a halt and really good stuff like post hardcore & math rock & garage rock started coming out of the States.
In fact excluding the occasional post rock band I can't think of a single decent British band who recorded a debut album between 1997 & 2000 that really sold in large amounts AND who got critical acclaim too.
