Transformers is Fantastic!!!!!

This was on Chud about Transformers 2:

"According to Steven Spielberg, you'll be getting that Transformers sequel whether you like it or not, and you'll be getting it real soon. During today's meet-and-greet on the Universal lot, Spielberg revealed that not only will the story for the Transformers 2 screenplay be turned in next week, the film could very well go before cameras this year! Of course, this is all contingent on the story meeting (if not ouright surpassing) the high standard of screenwriting set previously by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman on the first film. But not to fear... Ehren Kruger is on the case!

Spielberg also confirmed that Shia LaBeouf will return as Sam Witwicky... for this film and, it appears, the foreseeable future. Quoth The Beard: "Shia has a couple more Transformers ahead of him." He's also got D.J. Caruso's Eagle Eye, which is scheduled for a suspiciously lengthy November to March shoot. Could it be that Spielberg, who is producing Eagle Eye, took Shia completely off the market just to ensure Transformers 2 happens pre-strike?

To be clear, Transformers 2 is not confirmed for a 2007 start date; it's just, per Spielberg, a possibility should things come together quickly (i.e. so long as the screenplay is written in English)."

Totally not my style of film but I loved it. As did every person in the cinema I think. There were so many laugh out loud moments aswell, it was a lot funnier than I thought it would be.

I was never actually a fan of the 80s toys or cartoon - in fact - i nevcer actually saw the cartoon! but this film is fab!!!! finished the big bucket of popcorn even before the film came on!! i was THAT excited!! big robots fighting - what more could you want??!!!!

My favourite as a kid was He-Man. I loved He-Man to the core! then they make that awful film - and even as a 8 year old - i was very disppointed!

they are making a Thundercats movie as well right now!!!!

Woo Hoo , email from Playusa saying my Transformers DVD has been posted. Lets just hope the striking posties keep on working so I can see it soon.

I shall have a read....:)

Who neeRAB a plot!? It has brilliant effects, fast cars, robots, a sexy female, comedy....it ticks all the boxes. Then it makes more boxes, and ticks them too!

As much as I loved seeing 'real' Transformers on screen, the movie overall was poor.

Most of the Transformers barely got a line each and were massively underused, except of course for Hasbro's cash cow Optimus Prime and the heroic under-dog Bumblebee.

All the 'comedy' seemed forced and painful, especially Frenzy who will probably go down as the most annoying Transformer in history.

A better title would have been "Michael Bay's Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox film: guest starring the Transformers".

So dissapointing, not good enough. 5/10 for the amazing effects work, 0 for anything else.

Interesting take. I'd have thought the movie would have been a disaster if it had attempted to tell the story from the PoV of the robots. Different expectations, I guess.

I think the second film will be this franchise's X2. This is where we will see more Transformers characterization. I agree they could have more screen time in film 1, but I can see where the film makers were going, bringing in the human element to the forefront first.

This film looks the mutts nuts, yeh yeh I know i'm 30, but I am really looking forward in watching this, it's just a shame that us lot in England have to wait till the end of July before we see it Arrrrrgggggghhhhhh !!!!!, however if I was to *cough* obtain a half decent copy before it comesout overhere then my 50" TV & Cinema surround will get some extra use :D

Watched it already...the visual effect and all the attributes are superb!! worth watching
but the ending sucks. I'm not going to add spoiler here, but a little hint, "last action-solved simply with logic".
Thread maker, how can u like this movie at the same time u like 300?impossible.

I think that really misses the point. Flims like Indiana Jones, the original Star Wars etc etc aren't Shakespeare, but they do have an engaging story and characters, which this film doesn't.

Even the dumbest popcorn film for example, should have pulled out the hacker plot as largely irrelevant. It slows the story down.

Generally speaking I'd agree with that, and I'm not sure it's financially plausible to have much more of the robots that were there anyway.

Though there were certainly plenty of points to show the Transformers getting next to no characterisation. It's impossible to care about Jazz dying when he's said all of two lines.

The problems are much more that it's an over busy mess, and that there are way too many human characters which renders them all two dimensional cardboard cut outs. The hacking plot for a start just needed completely tearing out, and if a competent editor or director had been involved would have gone right at the start.

I couldnt think of the last decent popcorn movie in time for my urgency to post this thread! 300 was the wrong choice to say. I do like 300 :o i thought it was jolly!

New Zealand ain't all that quick to get films though. i'm not a fan of it, nor wish to see it - but Blades of Glory literly just came out as well here. that was out in the UK months ago.

Why they get some films, like Transformers before its even out in the US and get others that have been out months in other places - is completely beyond me!
