Transformers is Fantastic!!!!!

it was awesome at times but I do agree that times too busy, so much was happening towarRAB the end and you could barley tell what was going on as every 2 seonRAB there was a cut, It was still an amazing triumph visually though , though I too got a little bored with the battle at the end which surpised me, truly epic though

The characters in Transformers are brilliant. Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Grimlock, Soundwave, Shockwave, Swindle, Mirage, Unicron, etc.

Optimus Prime is an icon, to me he has always personified what a leader should be. Look at the likes of Bush, Brown, Blair etc and compare them to Prime. To many boys of my generation he was a father figure. Most heroic characters are all about strength, Prime's compassion is his greatest virtue.

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

The new film is an excellent popcorn movie, but I'm not happy about the Decepticons being non-descript thugs. Each Transformer has an individual personality, as Simon Furman has said, they are no different from humans.

Apparently we see little backstabbing and bitching from Starscream.
My problem with the new movie is that they focus too much on the human characters, the big Hollywood execs think that audiences cannot understand the concept of robots being sentient and having emotions.

But I'm glad that Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz, and Ratchet are very much their G1 characters.

I'm looking forward to a sequel, with Grimlock being based on Simon Furman's interpretation; the aggressive, arrogant, yet noble warrior who believes Prime is too soft to defeat the Decepticons.

Went to see Transformers last night, it was either that or Happy Pothead. Anyway first impressions were that I was unimpressed with it, second impressions however are that while the special effects were outstanding, the whole thing was let down by cheesy lameness of the script.

The Autobot hiding in Sam's backyard from his parents, while an amusing moment didn't really add much to the film. Add to that some of the silly jokes (credit card/customer service), it felt to me to be taking the piss of the audience. I also agree that the hackers/code breakers scenes were pointless or at least not used properly.

All that said, don't let this detract from the quality of the special effects. The transformations for some of them seemed to take ages (Prime), but others done in mid run/flight are amazing to see.

Overall a good family movie and worth seeing, but for those purists like me it may disappoint in places.

7/10

PS. One major bone of contention for me was Bumblebee, a bleeding Chevrolet Camero typical macho Americanism to change it to an american car.

couldnt agree more

plenty of so called worthy films that critics fall over . you sit down to watch and often they are so in love with how obscure and hip they are they forget to include an audience in their consideration and actually enagage them. Brick is just one example of that, overated heavily stylised cobblers which I was willing to end all the way through but felt obliged to see what all the fuss was about

Very good film but i got bored shitless during the last hour :( I swear the final fight scene went on FOREVER and i couldnt make out a single thing...it was just a visual blur and lots of noise for an hour!

That's exactly the kind of snobbish attitude that I can't stand. Some people would far rather have some escapism and watch a "trashy" action movie such as Transformers, Stealth, Fantastic 4 etc etc than an overly worthy Empire magazine 5 star rated bore-fest.

Yeah - when I came out of the cinema I was looking at all the cars with great suspicion! It's the sign of an effective film. I remember when everyone came out of Close Encounters we we all looking up into the sky - couldn't help it. And driving home from a trip to see Terminator 2 I was driving far too fast. And when you've seen a Bruce Lee film you feel really strong and athletic. LOL.

Really looking forward to this but the fact that it comes out here over 3 weeks after the US is incredibly frustrating. I know i've been waiting months but the fact that it's out there just some bright spark thought the UK could wait... ARGGHHH

I assume it's to do with the premiere?

I never saw Transformers when I were a kid, and the only experience I've ever had of it is the car advert. So I've had no interest in the Transformers whatsoever.

But that trailer makes me gagging to see it.

Saw it last night and was surprised at how funny it was. Expecting it to be all action, but it was actually very funny!

Loved the Transformers trying to hide from Sam's parents!

Bit disappointed with the ending, but I guess they're gearing up for a sequel?

oh yes great movie

totally entertaining and it dosent take itself too seriously neither.

sams parents are sooooo parent-like

never knew robots could care so much

  -------------------------------------------------------

I hope so!!! This is the best film I've ever seen....I loved it! Gonna go see it again and get it on DVD when it comes out

Bumblebee is awesome :)

went to see it..

special effects excellent

but film couldn't decide if it was a full blown michael bay actioner or a kiRAB film

result bit of a mess

some really cool visuals, but really cool visuals dont make a good film.

so -
if you are a kid - watch the cartoons, i am sure they are more enjoyable
if you are an adult - go see something more entertaining

Im not sure at all. here in NZ - where all films take months to come out (they only got Blades of Glory 3 weeks ago) - Transformers opened last week, before the US! I also always thought that big blockbuster films normally open around the world at the same time - to prervent pirating.

its going back to the old days - i remember Batman in 89 taking months to get here!

"The" Transformers were fantastic, the action sequences also were. Everything else however was terrible. This film has got to have one of the worst storylines and scripts I have come across in a long time for a movie of this caliber...

Judy: Were you masturbating?

Sam: WHAT? No! I don't-I don't masturbate!

Ron: You shouldn't talk about that, Judy. It's a father-son thing.

Sam: Yes. A father-son thing.

Judy: We could just call it... Sam's happy time!

One of MANY awful cringe inducing embarrassments in this film of which only Bay's writing team of unfunny 'juveniles' could muster up. I felt like I was watching Transformers: American Pie or something.

Finally, When this film drags... It REALLY drags, and for a long time too!

:D

unless you are being sarcastic (or have only ever seen one film :) ) don't get me wrong, it was an OK popcorn movie, but better than Star Wars?, the Matrix?, Fight Club?, Groundhog Day?, Some like it Hot?... er they're my favourites...please like them :D

I know it's all subjective

I saw this last night and it's fantastic!!! Everything you could want from a film, was really entertaining. Funny and romatic without being overly cheesey, not to mention the awesome action!

I didn't have a lot of expectation when I went and I was pleasently suprised!

I Watched an hour of it Online around this time, Went to bed, when i woke up it was takin' of.

My friend went to see it yesterday.

I Think i "Overhyped" this movie so far, it is enjoyable but its to dark to see anything.
