TMNT Talkback "Turtles Forever" (Spoilers)

Not really. TMNT III came out when the fad was dying and Turtles were losing their initial popularity, so the blame was placed on the movie.

What "production value" issues are we talking about here? The sets for Japan and the cast was huge. Its only Splinter's new costume that sucked.
 
No way. The Technodrome was underground when it got teleported in episode 5.

Plus this movie has props from season 2 and 3.

If it is a "spin off" based on any episode from the OT, it's "Shredder Triumphant"



Umm.... Yeah, they were defeated like 100 times in that show, and they always came back. It's not that hard to understand.



Neither are yours.



When we see the Technodrome in the OT universe, it's rolling around on the streets.

The only time it was underground in this movie is when it was in the NT universe, you're mixing your turtle-verses here.

And even so, season 3 had the Technodrome at the earths core... here it's just below the city (just like in season 1 of the OT).
 
It took them all the way until the series finale for Karai to finally get back at "her father." Better late than never, I suppose.

I LOVE that Hun remained a mutant turtle. Its so ironic to see Hun forced to remain something he hates, a mutant Turtle. I can't think of any better ending for Hun's character, it sure beats just seeing him go to jail or whatever.

Once again:

The 2k3 Shredder is finally killed, not by the Turtles, not by Splinter, not by the Utroms, but by....


...Bebop and Rocksteady. :D

When we back in Season 3, who would have thought Bebop and Rocksteady would defeat Ch'rell, the Utrom Shredder? Its my favorite part of the movie. Bebop and Rocksteady save the universe. I can't think of any better ending.
 
I don't care if they "could have" come back, they were lost in Dimension X, Krang's Android body was used to defeat Lord dregg, and the Technodrome was run down and abandoned. If it didn't happen in the show, it is not canon.

Why do people even try to place this after Season 10? Just because the 2k3 Turtles were at the end of all their adventures, doesn't mean the original Turtles were too.
 
That was a joke on how April gets captured in every episode.

As someone who has seen all the episodes of the original cartoon, April really does get in trouble or get captured in almost every episode.

Don's line, "We save April about once a day," was hilarious because its so true.

There were a lot of jokes in this movie people wouldn't get unless you watched a good chunk of the original series. Raph's 4th wall breaking is funnier if you watched the original show prior, I loved every time that happened in the old show.
 
The biggest issue are the Turtles themselves as the costumes were a step down from the previous two movies, and in switching from Henson to All Effects who did the costumes the Turtles lost the life that was imbued in them by Henson studios.

They just seemed lifeless, where was no real spark to even make you think that they were real.
 
Well Mirage Shredder was originally slated to be just a one shot villain, being killed off by the end of the first issue. Then the TMNT comic got way more popular the creators ever anticipated and the turtles ended up needing an arch-nemesis. This being comics, Shredder was resurrected and promoted from villain of the week to big bad.
 
I just finished watching it about 20 minutes ago, and I loved every second of it. The fact that so many characters appeared in this special was too good to be true, and it kinda shows since the '87 verse was only briefly visited and supporting characters like both Aprils, Casey, and 87 Splinter only got cameos. still, I appreciate how all of them had a chance to showcase.

Utrom Shredder was at his craziest here, trying to take down the universes, even if it meant he'd be wiped out too. I loved that montage of alternate Turtle-verses, and the shot with the Live-Action Turtles had me giggling. They looks o out of place compared to the rest of the multi-verse.

I do wish we got to see more of Uncle Phil and Krang actually doing villainous stuff. It seems once Utrom Shredder and Karai showed up, those two were benched and remained inactive until the final battle. Hun becoming an old villain is all kinds of awesome though. I didn't even notice the movie villains until others pointed them out.

As for all the jokes at the expense of the '87 show, I got a laugh out of them. The whole setup of the movie is pretty serious and fatalistic, so its nice to have someone bringing on the jokes. Raph breaking the 4th wall and Hun getting confused each time never failed to make me laugh. Mikey and Raph getting attached to the cast of the 2 other universes was also great, even though the Mirage Turtles were far too hardcore even for Raph.

So even though they're the good guys, the Turtles didn't actually defeat the Shredder. Karai managed to save them from nonexistence, Hun gave them the technology to track down the Technodrome and Bebop and Rocksteady were the ones who wiped out Utrom Shredder. It's different but a great way to show they're not nearly the monsters that U. Shredder is.

All in all, a great film, and a fitting send-off to the 25 years of TMNT before starting anew as a Viacom property. This is probably the greatest thing to air on CW4kids, and I'm glad I was there to witness it.

I know I was expecting a movie version of the excellent 4th videogame of the same title (or at least something close to it) and instead received a substantially worse movie than the two before it. There is nothing about TMNT III I like and it has nothing to do with fads. It was a bad movie then and it's a bad movie now.
 
Objection! Misleading. Shredder was rarely an 'issue' (pun soooo intended :P) in the comics. He did make an encore appearance once or twice, but it was his followers who caused the conflict most of the time. However, the cartoon and almost everything else that was spawned from the comic's popularity did make Shredder to be the most recurring villain in the whole franchise.
 
And another '80's Turtle adds, "You can set your watch by it!"

Another amusing tidbit was the 80's Turtles' confused reaction when the 2K3 Turtles called their Splinter "Father". Keep in mind that the 80's Turtles and Splinter never addressed each other as father and sons.

I give the writers of this movie credit: they really did their homework.
 
The costumes were not as "realistic" but they weren't bad and they allowed for actual movement which allowed better fights. The Turtles actually get to use their weapons again and use them more than the previous movies. The movie actually has a plot. It does feature really groan worthy dialog but so do the first two movies.

The reason the movie is hated is because it came out at the end of the turtles fad so people were already moving on and because the movie doesn't "feel" like a turtles movies since its true that it doesn't feature Shredder or Krang or any known baddie from the 87 toon. Also a lot of the original fans were already outgrowing toys/cartoons by the time the movie came out. And also plenty of people will bag on the movie without having even watched the movie and just do it because they saw the Angry Video Game Nerd review of the movie.




Umm have you read the general consensus of the movie? people don't like it. And yeah no shredder its cg are some of the more generic complains.
