TMNT Talkback "Turtles Forever" (Spoilers)

I just watched it. I thought it was great. Lots of fun all around. Sure, the '88 Turtles came across as a bit incompetent. However, you have to remember that they fit in fine in their own world where everything works pretty much by the same rules as they do. I mean, the 2K3 Turtles seemed completely out of sorts when they went to the '88 world. We also see in this show that if the 2K3 Shredder had access to the crazy sci-fi tech of the '88 show, he could be even more dangerous. Even if it was silly the '88 show was silly, it did have a leg up in terms of crazy sci-fi stuff.

Your argument is flimsy at best. If the series continued, there's nothing to stop the turtles from going back to wearing the old head bands, having their mutations corrected, the sky changing back, April getting back her yellow jumpsuit (as VO pointed out, it wasn't destroyed) or Channel 6 being rebuilt. Absolutely nothing. The only thing that couldn't be fixed is death and considering this is a cartoon/comic property, even that could fixed. So quit acting like it's the most absurd notion in the world.

Real world example: I used to have a beard, i wore it for 2 years. Your telling me that because I changed it to a goatee, that I can NEVER change it back to a beard ? Of course not. None of the changes that happened in TMNT 88 are like this, they are all reversible.

WRONG. It could easily be continued adventures that went beyond what we saw on the TV show. In theory, when the show ends their continuity doesn't end... we just don't see it. These could be the same turtles years later. The time between when the 88 show ended and when the 2k3 series ended is time the 88 turtles could have been adventuring and becoming more light hearted. Shredder and krang could easily return and April could get her old job back, considering freelance work isn't stable. You act like the turtles HAVE to be from the seasons of the show we witnessed.

These could have been turtles post the 88 series, still doing things to the point that certain things come back around.

If you never read the comics, the closest to Mirage Shredder we've seen is Movie Shredder from the first live-action movie.

Shredder in the first movie is more or less the same as Mirage Shredder. He's a ninja master without being overpowered (like 2k3 Shredder), or comical (like old toon Shredder).

Thanks for getting all the VA. I'm sorry, but Dan Green as Leonardo wasn't working for me at all. Although, when they laughed and yelled their catch phrases, I couldn't hear him very loudly.

I agree, it was a very good movie. Like everyone else has stated, the 4th wal scences were hilarious and the visuals were great. I agree with the fact that they bashed the 80's one a bit too much, but some things, like the technology, I could understand.

Overall, great movie!

my favorite part was when the 87 Turtles would break the fourth wall, and everyone else thought they were crazy. Makes me think of Deadpool, it just adds to the overall comedy of them, since they were more comedic of a show.

The movie is good so far, but 4kids did one part wrong. In the movie, the 1988 turtles didn't hide their identity in daylight, but in the 1988 cartoon, the turtles did.

I think that was more or less indication that the TMNT Vs. Shredder fights will never end for the franchise as a whole.

In every single Turtle universe, it will always come down to the Turtles Vs. Shredder. In every incarnation Shredder "returns from the dead" at least once.

But I'm pretty sure Ch'rell is dead. After all the 4kids universe is over, so they can't bring him back anyway. Bebop and Rocksteady saved the universe, and it should stay that way.

Oh man I forgot all about Next mutation. It was alright for a minute but they were trying too hard to break away from their Teen "shells" pun not intended. It just got boring, I was even exicted about a female ninja turtle but she just ruined it with the romantic undertones.

I guess that's just not the way that I'm looking it at. Like I've said before, to me it really feels like the creaters were trying to laugh with the original TMNT cartoon, not at it. It might also be that I just agree that the original TMNT was a little ridiculous compared to the 2003 version.

It truly was outstanding. A much better finale to the 2003 cartoon than the wedding episode would've been.

I know of that, but why are you using ideas from an un-produced season to prove something? Whatever the Shredder Wars was intended to be, its not canon and it never happened. Same with the un-produced FF season 2, its not canon. I simply view that scene in the first BTTS episode as an alternate future. After all Khan said he killed the Turtles in that sequence, which to me makes it seem like some bizarro world alternate future.

Ch'rell is dead. Period. Bebop and Rocksteady killed him, and since TMNT 2k3 is over, they can't bring him back now anyway. Let it go. I don't care about some un-used plotlines from a season that never happened. I also don't consider that scrapped Garbageman/Hun episode from Season 5 canon, simply because it wasn't produced.

Fine. I can see why it would reset status quo for the Mirage and old toon universe, but its clearly obvious the 2k3 universe was changed by this movie. The events of this movie are canon, Hun is still a mutant turtle and Ch'rell is dead.

Because it IS the most absurd notion in the world. The original toon ENDED. It didn't continue past episode 193. We cannot pretend it did. Shredder/Krang were defeated in the old toon universe and the Technodrome was destroyed.

Everyone moved on. I cannot believe what is so hard for this to understand. You sound like you're making up your own personal fanfiction rather than what actually happened in canon.

You're doing it again. You're making up fanfiction rather than going with the facts of what happened by the end of the original show.

Your "ideas" aren't canon. We never saw Shredder/Krang/Bebop/Rocksteady control the Technodrome again after Season 8. Channel 6 was gone and April was no longer working there.

I am going what happened by the end of episode 193 of the original show. While its obvious the Turtles probably had some future adventures (after all, a Turtles work is never done), there is nothing indicating they were still at "war" with Shredder and Krang.

Once again, I say "Season 3" because the Technodrome was underground in that season, whereas in Seasons 4-8 it wasn't.

Recorded it yesterday, saw it this morning.

As someone who hasn't seen the '87 Turtles in a pretty long time, I actually got a kick out of the jokes, well except the fourth wall ones, they seemed really forced, but it sorta reminds me that I should really see the original series.

Also, I learned some things, like how, in the 2k3 series, it had elements that the Mirage Turtles had, with the narrating on the cold openings (looks like 4Kids had a lot of research when they owned the series).

My cons? Well, remember when I mentioned about that I needed to see the '87 Turtles series again? Well, the fact that in the special, they're only the universe for a short while. Heck, they were at the Mirage Comics longer.

In other words, it would've been awesome if we explored it at least a little bit more. It doesn't help that the '87 version of April suddenly gets captured, making it seem really...rude.

Well, anyways, it was really fun, and a great experience, even though I'm not a fan of the series, more like I was fond of it.

This was an awesome movie. I randomly caught it on TV, and at first, I was like "What is this?" But the homages to the first 80's cartoon, and then the original Mirage comic... as Michaelangelo would say, COWABUNGA!!!

I really doubt that's true. It's not a requirement that Shredder be in every Turtles movie. I think that fans could've dealt with the lack of Shredder if the film had a better plot and higher production values. I mean, TMNT had no Shredder and I enjoyed that film. It was a nice change of pace to get away from the "Turtles vs Shredder" formula for once.

If Nickelodeon were to acquire the syndicated series from Murukami/Wolf/Svenson, that would indeed be a hoot, although I wouldn't bet danger money on that happening. However, I don't think that the new TMNT series should rehash the old theme song, even if they are able to. It would make it appear as though the new series were a continuation of the '87 series and it would be too much of a pat on the back. I think that the new series should try to find it's own voice and start fresh with a clean slate.

This I completely agree with. I absolutely adore the original TMNT cartoon. But the jokes in this movie didn't bother me at all.
