SPOILERS Star Wars episode III (what do you think)

Sidious is not Anakin's father. The conversation was aimed at telling Anakin that it is possible to save Padme.

It's not another "I am your father" moment.

----

I left the cinema feeling deflated, but in a good way. Ep3 was so much better than the other prequels. The film is pretty much a depressing slide to darkness. It is the perfect counterpart for Ep4.

Fave moments:

1 - YODA - just brilliant throughout. Throwing the guarRAB was awesome, as was his throwing the sabre, as was his sensing of order 66.

2 - OBI WAN - again, the central figure of the PT, the sane one in all the madness. Felt very sorry for him at the end. The hero of Ep1-Ep4. His brash "Hello there" with a smile when he appears against Grevious and the droiRAB on Utapua was great.

3 - The drum beats at the start of the space battle.

4 - The Youngling that takes out a load of clones outside the temple.

5 - The opera - the music from it was excellent to set the Darth Plageuis story to.

6 - Mace whooping the Emperor. If Anakin wasn't so stupid and arrogant, the Jedi would have suceeded. The emperor was one of my fave OT characters, but I really wanted Mace to win here.

7 - R2 at the start - needed the humour because the rest of the film is so depressing (in a good, intentional way).

8 - The scene of Anakin looking out towarRAB Padme (and her doing the same) on Coruscant - just sets the tone fantastically. Very artistic.

Has Lucas ruled out a sequel trilogy?

I would have liked to see how the Empire would have been defeated after the death of the emperor, how the republic be restored, how the Jedi order restored in episodes 7 to 9.

I expect that he discovered it in his thinking, just as QuiGon did when he wasn't busy hinting down Jedi and rebels.

He is the chosen one after all, the most powerful force user ever.

Probably got the idea when he saw ObiWan disappear on the RAB in Ep4.

Hey, I have a few comments / questions / things I noticed.

-Did anybody else spot the Milenium Falcon in one scene? I don't remember exactly what scene it was, but I could have sworn I saw it near the bottom of the screen during one of the wide-angle shots of some place with a lot of ships taking off and landing, I think it was the Jedi Temple but I don't remember.

-Why doesn't Obi-wan recognize R2D2 in Episode IV (when he says he doesn't remember ever owning any droiRAB), if R2D2 was with him so much in episode III and possibly earlier ones?

-Why does Yoda run away from Sideous after just falling a little bit? He's had worse falls and kept on fighting... what a wuss. One minute, he's just fine, fighting all out, then he loses his balance and falls... then he RUNS AWAY!

I've been wondering what, by definition, 'bring balance to the force' actually means? Does it mean (as above) that there are now equal weightings on the light and dark side of the force - as opposed to thousanRAB of jedi and only two sith and maybe a few dark jedi?

If this is the case I suppose that is why Yoda says something like "Been misinterpreted, the prophecy may have been"

Or does it mean that balance of the force has returned to the light side - i.e. at the end of Episode VI when Anakin does eventually bring balance to the force by turning back before he dies. "There's good in him ... I know it"

exactly!

a_reyes I respect your opinion but it is a good job your not a member of the Academy.... He DOES have a very good 'evil look', but often his delivery was uninspired.

We saw Star Wars Revenge of the sith last night- and we all had mixed feelings. It was an entertaining story, but almost had too much to fit in... Anakin turning into Darth Vader was too rushed- couldnt he think for himself?
What the film really lacked was a charismatic character, like Han Solo from the first three. someone who was funny yet human. The most charismatic characters from the film were the robots!

The existence of the Sith creates an "imbalance" in the force. They are not supposed to exist in the big scheme of good force mojo things. Eventually Anakin does fulfill the prophecy by destroying the Sith (chucking Palpatine down the big shaft and then dying). It's just appears that the Jedi didn't read the fine print of the prophecy. Obi Wan clearly states that is what the "bringing balance" prophecy meant (to the Jedi) in Ep 3.

Was fine to me, and about a squillion other people, including a few proffesional hardened critics who hated the previous two, granted there were a few dodgy scenes, but it's star wars. How I grow bored of seeing that comment come up against this and other movies, obviously if you see a giant robot/lizard/monster/super powered bloke, do flying leaps off several buildings or spin on the edge of a building with perfect skill and agility on there nose while juggling dynamite with there feet, or even fire a torrent of rockets out of there arse followed by slaughtering the masses with a pencil, it's going to be CGI, or would you prefer little rubber puppets, honestly you come up with a film where you have not thought to yourself "That's CGI" even LOTR had this problem.
It's star wars, it's cliched, for a so called fan of star wars 1, you should know this.
Theres only so many ways you can effectively kick the crap out of someone, I didn't see much of a repeat of the previous lot, or did you expect them not to fight with light sabres, and space ships this time round?..hmm

Well no, he was at a temple full of kiRAB training :p , not a party at all...on the same note, the kiRAB weren't armed, and they trusted Anakin.Camped it up? when, I don't recall Vader saying anything like "OoooO you naugthy little Jedi! I'm going to give you a spanking with my light stick!" or anything of the sort, if you mean the scene where he comes off the operating table and screams no, you'll notice it was lucas's homage to old horror movies, I.E frankenstien...and he wasn't the epitome of evil, as said in this movie and the others, "he has some good in him" This was vader starting out.Uhm, righteo  since you won't list them, *shrug*He is a good actor, except maybe on that new film the island, not sure if I like the look of that, but anyway, Alec Guinness Played the role dead pan/monotone, Ewan is playing the same role, go figure. :) shame you didn't like the movie, nevermind eh, all over now...except the supposed TV spinoff rumoured to be in the works, and the animated stuff. :D

Hi,

This is what starwars.com says about Anakin's father:

"A child born of prophecy, possibly conceived by the will of the Force itself, Anakin Skywalker has left an indelible mark on the history of the galaxy, leading it through perioRAB of lightness and dark. "

Loved the film,
thought R2-D2 was the best!!!
Shame they were a few inexactitudes

BLOODY LOVED IT !!!

I like Star Wars. I don't go to conventions, I don't own a ninety quid lightsabre, (although my wife got hold of a Darth Tater for me!), and I booked only 2 days in advance. But I will stray into the realms of nerd-dom and state that this film was the perfect story to portray the fall of Anakin.

I thought that Sideous was most persuasive. I worry about those who thought that Anakin gave into him too quickly - if I had a way of saving my wife's life, I would do anything to make it happen. I suspect that those who don't get it have never met the love of their life. Mind you, looking at the patrons in the cinema last night, this is more than possible!! :D

And yes, I did see the Millenium Falcon. After the rescue of Palpatine, when they returned him to the Senate, the wide shot of the ship returning included the MF in the bottom right of the screen. Sweet !

I can also see why it got a 12A as well - Anakin's demise was gruesome.

Loved the evil scream of Sideous as he attacked the Mace's arrest party - pure evil !!

I also thought that Yoda "gave in" a bit early, but if you look at his tactic in the scale of the Star Wars story, it was the correct thing to do.

Brilliant film - going back with my mates on Orange Wednesday to see it again !!!

a bit harsh, but the dialogue is pretty awful, and yes, the CGI was completely overdone, especially with sidius and dooku

then again, the whole plot is unbelievable really, so we shouldnt nitpick - plus i loved the film, apart from the AWFUL 'nooooooooooo' from vader at the end   :(

Notice my use of sticky out tongues and smilies, CHILL! it was only abit of light hearted healthy banter and an opinion against your opinion, which I'm perfectly entitled to, No need to get SO defensive :( , I'm aware you don't need to like previous installments, I myself didn't much like either of the two that came before this one, Neither am I one of the meh'ers who consume any movie fed to the pop corn masses, *bit of a movie freak*, As for editing I thought it was rather good, especially set pieces like the birth of luke and leia intersected with the birth of darth vader, the jedis downfall, anakins turning to the darkside and various other scenes, all well done, but what do I know I'm not a film student  *groan*, Anyway watch the other star wars movies, you'll see there not so dissimilar in cliches, dialogue, style...*ahem* Star wars "EPISODE 3" blasphemer ;) :p

Were you not paying attention in Episode 2 or 3?

In Ep2 Boba Fett produced the DNA for the clones so they all looked like him and during multiple scenes in Ep3 you have several of the clones with their helmets off all looking the same!

Very sad music when all the Jedi were murdered by the stromtroopers.

The younglings scene: shocking but neccessary  :)

Ian McDiarmid was fantastic as Palpatine/Sidious. :D

Incase anyone doesn't know, the young Jedi that gets shot outside the Jedi temple is played by Jett Lucas, George's son.
