SPOILERS Star Wars episode III (what do you think)

I loved Star Wars 1977, as a boy, I've seen it since, and it holRAB up well. It was groundbreaking, clever, good story, great effects. Top notch adventure.

I haven't liked any of the others in the same way.

Possibly due to me getting older, but they all seemed to turn into Disneyesque visual spectaculars with none of the cult feel of the first film. I would have been quite happy had there been just the original Star Wars, and no more.

I'm no film-making expert - I presume I'm right when I say wipes, I mean the little animations that take you to the next scene.

I saw little blocks fading in, anticlockwise wipes and various other tacky crap that I haven't seen elsewhere (apart from my cack video camera), if they are in Star Wars 1977, I can't remember, for that was when I saw it. It was a small niggle, not my major complaint. I do not understand why in a film of such supposed technological advancement, they would use something so naff, even if it was a head nod at earlier versions.

But like I say, the wipes were only a tiny part of why I thought this movie blew.

I'd agree with virtually all of that...although I'd say the first half hour - whilst spectacular, left me a little cold as it lacked emotion.

Apart from that (and the Anakin - Padme relationship rubbish) great stuff.

As was said earlier, R2 doesn't have his memory deleted...
but, there is no reference to R2 knowing or not knowing what Yoda looks like....

R2 being wiser and smarter than C3PO isn't likely to mention what he knows, unlike C3PO, who'll just blart anything...

Plus he communicates in bleeps, so unless he's looking at his instruments in the X-Wing, how will Luke know what hes saying? As the X-Wing is in the Dagobah swamp....

Plus, do we see R2 and Yoda together in the prequels at all? I don't think we do...

I've saw the third one twice now, on thursday and saturday, and i love it. Hate Mace dying though, even though he had to. Dunno why just hate watching him die.

Sadly I found the film disappointing the ending was so rushed. the whole film had the same issues as the other prequels. - wooden acting, bad dialogue.
the effects overtook the story.
If I went into seeing this movie not believing the hype I would have thought it was OK
But Yoda is BANG ON

Ok not seen the film yet but on reviewing it one thing has stood out and its puzzling me. I beleive You see in it Jedi Anakin Ghost but how I mean you have to be dead obviously and Anakin becomes Darth Vader so he is not dead. And in Episode v1 when Darth Vader Dies and comes back to the light side after luke burns his body you see Anakin as he is a Jedi with Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda. Please someone explain how this has happened.

Also, all the hype about General Grevious & him being a jedi killer. I was expecting this major all action fast as hell lightsaber duel with him seeing as he had 4 arms. But it seemed to me that obi wan just cut the 1st to off too easily.
then it just turns into a chase.

The wipes are in all of the films, each wipe is 36 frames long. They are a tribute to the style of the Flash Gordon serials of the 1930s as is the whole saga.

It could still make sense. At that stage, only Luke had been trained in the ways of the Force. Obi-Wan was putting all his hopes on Luke at the time, and Yoda was just reminding him that if he failed they could always start again and train Leia.

I watched Episode III on Friday evening and it has taken me this long to decide on how I feel about it!!

Personally, I believe that Count Dooku and General Grievous were too easily defeated. Lots of action was promised with this prequel and I was not disappointed - although I felt that it was VERY slow in between action sequences.

One of the worst bits for me was (as with ntl:rocks) when Mace Windu was killed - I was hoping that he would kill Palpatine (even though I knew better). At this point, I believe that Anakin gave in too easily to Palpatine. Perhaps, sequences involving these too throughout the film could have been extended?? (At least we know how he [Palpatine] became disfigured!!!)

Perhaps many people will agree with me when I say that Darth Vader (as we know him from the original trilogy) wasnt given enough screen time - although the comical "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" did bring a smile to my face!! :)

Overall however, I thought ROTS was a great film, and Im just going to have to go again (and maybe again) to really make sure I liked it (and perhaps appreciate it more). ;)
