we need to band together and invade somalia. start a new country. how many people would we need a couple hundred thousand to remove the armed people there?

It's nice to know that you have no idea whatsoever about the libertarian platform.

The place is basically in anarchy, yet the private sector is flourishing. Isn't this the libertarian dream?

While in America businesses are enslaved by the government and forced to serve people of different ethnicities.

For being the new guy in the forum, you're really not taking an approach to expressing your opinions in a fashion that's going to get you respect from anyone but trolls.

But Somalia is a haven for private business too. Libertarians, non racists, conservatives, etc should be looking up to Somalia.

Part of it is commerce minus government intereferance. Somalia is not a perfect fit in other areas, but you've gotta make do.

it would be if there wasn't a bunch of multinational businesses from 40 different countries carving the place up under the protection of peace keepers and private security forces backed by national militaries, it would be.

An actual country that has a weak domestic government but strong enough to deter outside interference is a much better place because as long as you stay under the radar, nobody is going to touch you.

I don't know if that makes sense, but it's not really about the national government or lack there of. It's about what OTHER national governments are doing in the place.

They have (sort of) one part of the Libertarian platform, that means it's a libertarian paradise!

Of course. But it's not feasible to take over the place because of the politics involved. If it was just civil war, no problem, take 100 people and kill everybody in sight until they stop shooting back. But it's not just somalia, it's the 70 other countries that are staking their claim there. Look what happened when Executive Outcomes went to work- the UN had a complete bitch fest. Somalia (and the rest of Africa) is being carved up by conglomerates that have military backing of their respective countries. I know you are being sarcastic but telecom is huge in somalia. For the CEO of a large enough company with enough political clout, then Somalia might be a better option.

Better places to go for libertarians are eastern europe, caucasus, south america. All of them have relatively weak governments so you can get away with pretty much whatever you want, without getting killed by UN peacekeepers in the process.

Come on fellow. Somalia has a plentitude of things that match up with the libertarian checklist. Not everything matches up, but I think it's close..
