I wish you luck in your future endevours Nimiq1 :) It does boggle the mind though when you think of all the grief Bell puts one thru.

What is so stupid about this is a Bell customer can give a CSR a serial number and say they bought it a garage sale or saw it in the paper and they will tell them the status of it and if it is clear title they will activate right away.
I just sold one to a guy he took it home, but it had money owing on, so gave him another and it activated this time no problem. But Bell told him the info no questions asked!

Ya just gotta shake yer head when dealing with this company.

Cheers :)

You don't have to tell them a name, you can tell the CSR to let "whoever call's in" or "let anybody" activate it after you sell it. They will enter that into the system.

If you cancel we have a 30 days policy...we will only deactivate the account in 30 days.

There is a 35$ transfer rate for the client who takes the receiver

Bell could also buy you receiver back, but many agents are unaware of that programm. Here is how much they will give you:
2700->25$
3100->40$
3200->50$
4700->25$
5100->70$
5200->120$
5800->70$
5900->70$
6000->70$
6100->100$
Other models are not accepted

If that is the Card from the 5100 it CANNOT be used in any other receiver. Well technically it can but not for normal customers.

You will need to contact Bell to have them ship out a Card for you.

I believe the customer service agreement makes it clear that the cards remain the property of Bell ExpressVu........regardless the card itself states that it is Bell ExpressVu property even if you have purchased the equipment.

I don't know what the problem is either. Yes you can sell your receivers, and wether or not they stay on your account if the buyer never calls to activate it dosn't really matter, your allowed to have 6 active receivers receiving programing, so I don't know what the problem is either.

Maybe but what is the big deal. Don't matter.

I sold my 6000 on Ebay last summer after I picked up the 9200. The buyer who lived in a Manitoba sent me an email saying that Bell would not activate the receiver because it was still under my account. I called bell and told them I had sold the receiver and gave them the name of the person who now owns it. I received a second email from the buyer saying he had no problem activating the 6000 after my conversation with bell.

That's precisely what I was led to believe as well, but as we've seen there could be as many different stories as their are agents and that's part of the problem.
Bell is not unique in that situation.

I recently bought a complete 9242 system (dish included). At this point I am not sure if I want to subscribe the system/service. When I bought it at Best buy they went through all kinds of security sceens on their computer (it took like 5 minutes) I gave them my same and address too. I didnt have to sign anything except the credit card slip. I have a friend who is subscribed and really wants the receiver. Apparently there are no more 9242s anymore. He is willing to pay me my in full so I think I might just sell it to him.

I assume the system i bought was intended for new hd customers. It has never been activated. Are these receivers transferrable? Is there an time limit for the receiver to be activated? Will he have any problems adding this receiver to his account (he already has an older hd box) Do I have to notify bell that I a selling him the receiver?

Thanks,

I gave a 3100 to a friend yesterday. I called bell, gave them the receiver, smart card #s and the name of the friend. The friend then called up and activated the received. The whole thing took about 15 min. needless to say their service astonished me. Keep up the good work bell.

It's strange that some people are having problems. I've had seven receivers now, four 3100s, one 5800, one 5900 and one 2700 and sold all of them except the 5800 and 5900. Never had a problem. When I sold the 3100s I called Bell and explained that I was selling them to my friend, handed the phone to my friend and let him finish the activation. It was very easy.

I've had my share of bad CSRs, but if I don't seem to be getting anywhere with the current CSR I hang up and call another. It so frustrating when the quality of the service you receive depends so much on the experience and conscienciousness of the agent at the other end of the phone.

I had a 6000 that I sold a year ago and it still shows up on my account (online.) I called and told EV who it was sold to but it's still listed on my account. The CSR even found the buyer's account in the system. Pretty sloppy if you ask me. What's up with that? Even though I thought it was a legitimate sale, that receiver was probably hacked and sold on eBay long ago.

Hmmm my cancelation takes place April 29th. Can I sell my receiver before that date?

Thanks

some techs are at fault, but the bulk of the blame needs to fall on bells shoulders
the tech is there to install
if csr's/call center people do not have the tools to communicate, it is beyond anything the tech can do
the company is still relatively young, so i guess bumps in the road are neccesary, but...
its not your fault either
dont worry

Just hooking the receiver up to the phone line should trigger an alert when it calls home. If I had an active receiver on someone else's account and wanted to keep it active, hooking it up to the phone line would be the last thing I'd do.

I also assume that all PPVs ordered through the receiver would be verified against my telephone number on file. OTOH, knowing how well Bell's billing department leverages their own technology, maybe that's a bad assumption. :rolleyes:

Actually, Bell's reply does make sense. The previous owner had already paid for the programming he cancelled up until his billing date. When you first sign up with Bell, or Star Choice for that matter, you pay for two months in advance. So technically, Bell cannot cancel the previous owner's account until his billing date arrives. In other words, your service terminates on your billing date, not on the date you cancel.

There are two different things being discussed here.

1. Total number of IRDs showing on your account which includes Active and Inactive (no longer in service)

2. Total number of Active IRDs

Bell seems to NEVER remove an IRD from your list of IRDS that you have activated whether or not they are currently Active.

The total number of ALLOWED Active IRDs (tuners actually!!!!) used to be eight (8) WAY back and is currently six (6).

Bell can be so much fun to deal with at times...

had this posted in another thread, but think it belongs better here....

i bot a couple of the 9200 on sale at best buy, with the intention to use those, however now thinking i may hold off and get the newer ones, as i would hate to be faced with them being obsolete and having to upgrade them again later... qstn is, can i sell those 2 privately or will bell charge me some fee for not activating them - i am an existing sub, i did not sign any 2 yr contract when buying them, but i did sign something saying about activitating them. i could return them but know people that want them.

thx.
