Q, if you sold them and the person who bought them added them to his account, they will be removed from your account.

Sell, yes... Activate on a new account, no...

Your cancellation will be an open order. When we have an open order we can not remove an a/o, the code that gives the fed to the second receiver, third and fourth. If it's the only receiver since the account is still active we can not remove the receiver.

Make sure you call us to let us know you sold the receivers, if you didn't do so when you cancelled, otherwise we won't be able to activate it for the person

There should be no reason that would prevent you from selling them.

I can only imagine that the store recorded your receivers within the PRISM system, which is Express Vu's database.

If this is the case, call Express Vu, explain that you bought them, they may require the R00 #'s from them for confirmation, then tell them you are selling them on and give a name, they should then record that data and give you the green light.

The 9200's will not become fully obsolete for probably a decade or more, they will however stop showing HD programming but not for at least the next 2 years, after which you will have 2 very good Dual Tuner SD PVR's.

It's IRDs, not tuners. I had 2 9200s and 4 others active for a short time last year.

I want my HD TV most probably this buyer never called us to have it transferred to his (her) account. When talking to you they could have found the other clients account, but weren't supposed, and didn't if they are still on your account remove the receivers. Best way to find out is to call that person and verify with him (her). If you don't they might order PPV from the receiver (which doesn't require a PIN) and YOU will have them on your account

After reading through this thread it seems like it may be prudent to take a large hammer to my two 2700's and be done with it.

Is BEV in the practice of 'contacting' people who have cancelled their service but still have a dish visible ?

I assume I should take some tinsnips to the cards.

Have you got the receiver.?
Have you tried it in the Data Stream.?
The 6100 originally had an internal Smart Chip, if the # in Sys Info, match's that Chip, then I would think it will be a Free Card.

If you connect it can you see Ch# 198.

I just connected it to the dish and changed the receiver to channel 198 and only see brief channel information and then a black screen. Does the receiver need to be in-stream for any length of time? Keep in mind I'm not currently a subscriber.

Grrr why do they leave the customer hostage? They can certainly turn on your service quick enough.

I have just bought a sony kdl52xbr3
I dont have hd signal
If i buy a pvr and dish will that get me a signal?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but i am a NEWBIE and just wondering all avenues?

Bev or Telus if available or Shaw??
Which is the best way to go?
Thanks

I would sell them at a Yard Sale or e-bay.

Express Vu do not seem to care if they fall into the hands of "testers" so why should you.

No you should see 198 all the time, unless the New Card had been used and then not supplied.

On the bottom is the S00# that was with the receiver when new, does this # match the details in Sys Info. Menu 6, 1, 3.?

When buying used equipment, keep in mind that the unit must also be from the same originating supplier. i.e. Bev will not activate a DishNet receiver on the Bell system (well, at least not without some MAJOR hassling - and there is no guarantee they will). The hardware is the same and there are ways to force the unit to flip firmware between providers, but the issue is in the activation as it is not in their inventory or IRD range.

I don't seem to be able to find you here. http://www.sqmgroup.com/2006awards/csi-starchoice.htm

Which makes sense cause if someone broke into your house and stole your receiver, they shouldn't be allowed to activate it.

Thanks Haystack , Maybe they have a different level of service in Montreal??

Maybe Mr. Agent should do some research and not listen to the propaganda from Head Office!
