@Ming837,
You know what your 100%correct when you say this,
"Nokia spent millions to buy off GPS services, create Ovi, Comes with Music, N-Gage, Symbian Foundation.. those are the true value you get with a Nokia device."
But look how well that's worked out for them Nokia Maps is not loved and used by all many prefer Tom Tom, Garmin or another service as Nokia Maps with voice guidance isn't free.
OVI is far from being the success either Nokia envisaged or any of you seem to believe either hence the recent announcement that the are cutting back nay stopping spending more money on it. They are now going to do what they should of done from the start and work on implementing the best support they can for already existing and popular 3rd party services that don't tie users to Nokia devices for ever and removing the users freedom of choice.
Comes with Music despite all the fanfare they made is an epic fail in the UK with Millions of Nokia users just 27,000 have gone for Comes with Music hardly a success is it?
N-Gage is that even still going? for all the users it's attracted yet again hardly the success Nokia thought it would be is it?
Symbian Foundation a reaction to the ever increasing competition they face from the competition and from the so far announced road map it's going to still take far to long to implement real changes. Plus it's not going to be a Nokia exclusive either many manufactuers will have access to it at greatly reduced cost.
Now if all of those are the plus points to buy a Nokia i have even less reason now then previously when they quite simply lead the way in giving us the best specified hardware that ran their OS.
You do realise that many of us that are now critical of Nokia where at one time it's strongest supporters and we know from experience what to expect and not to rely on PR blurb as reality.
As I've said before and elsewhere just imagine a Nokia N97 that had a 3.7" OMLED screen and powered by an OMAP 3420 processor with the Power SGX graphics chip and how all of us would of been excited and wanting this device.
Instead of which those of us that can live without the Keyboard and the extra storage are now going to buy a Samsung Omnia HD as although it also won't be perfect as no device is at least it offers the most power, Ram and up to date spec's possible.
Some of you that have so much faith in Nokia IMHO are setting yourself up for a big shock as personally i just don't believe the performance on the N97 is going to be anything special and that's being kind. I also don't think the Widgets are going to prove to be the killer application so many of you seem to think they will be either.
Only time will tell which group us us have called it right but once it releases in Europe late June/July and you get your NAM version some time after it should make for some interesting reading. Either as to just how brilliant it actually is or just how disappointed people are.
