*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I worry about cell phone pockets. I have a few pairs of Dickies pants with a cell phone pocket. The only problem is that the cell phone pocket is right at your knee joint and is pretty shallow so your phone falls out every time you sit down

1. auto lock feature.. something with the back light not lighting up, but not anymore. other than that, it works beautifully.
2. responsive, had to get used to the double touch

it fits nicely in my hand. i used to use a e61i and that was huge. compared to that, its so small

I was trying that. Must be a user error, then. :D

Ah there it goes. It won't let me do a system reset, either. Says I need to disconnect. Weird. What was originally in the right hand soft key anyway? I can't remember and have Settings there, now.

I saw this on the web:
"Finally the Nokia N97 users can spend their time on high quality games from N-gage. This information will be realized in this weekend. Unfortunately, the Nokia 5800 and its lower edition Nokia 5530 seem to not yet supported by N-gage. But we need to seek further info on this. The main reason why Nokia 5800 and Nokia 5530 are not yet listed on N-Gage list is their hardware keyboard lacking."

can't wait for that to happen, lol, gonna kill some time waiting for the bus or metro, hehe

I was having a very difficult time debating between n97 and omnia HD. A few days ago I went down to the phone store around my house to play with the phones. I decided to go with the n97. I like it so far, I think i made a good choice. I'm having a hard time retrieving my work and aol emails though. I kept getting unable to retrieve message..., anyone with the same issue?

ps, if anyone living in LA looking to buy n97, visit addictedtophones.com in San Gabriel. I picked mine up for $650 (white). not a bad deal.

I know what you mean, and can feel your sentiments. Luckily I've never pre-ordered a phone/tech and probably never will for the reasons you've listed.

I love Jonny's objectiveness. I never understood the "unconditional loyalty" to a brand name. Many valid points are brought up why Omnia Hd is better than N97 but some people here are in some kind of a denial.

Seeing that Apple essentially rehashed Iphone eg (and, as a Nokia user, **** like this looks way too familiar to me ), I'm glad that I ordered N97 for $454. Whew... I was hoping that Apple wouldn't start doing the rehash game like Nokia did.

i just keep hearing about this processer info now being a bit of a computerphobe i know something on this issue i say its more or less using what you know and what works rather then going to a new processor say the snapdragon 1ghz and having to learn everythng new about it and having to reoptimize everything and making people wait another five to ten months to get it im sorry id rather go for a processor that maybe slower but phone in june rather then phone in january 2010 and faster processor. But maybe thats me

Great, now that the cat is out of the bag they can let the phone out of the bag and release this thing.

Hmmm...Faster than the E71, the E75 and the N85. Same processor as the N86 8MP.

sr1329 thanks for your honest answer and i read thru the post because i do like to hear what you say, i dont always agree but who ever does all the time.
I see what your needs are and i will say this isnt the needs of the majority maybe the business world but the the typical cell phone user.

The typical cellphone user is wowed not by email or by how many apps open and how quickly but by youtube, facebook, music videos ect.... oh yes text messaging and camera.

whenever im with a bunch a friends the nseries stands out the most even against the iphone because in everyday situations it just performs might not be as smooth but it performs.

When i fire up garmin and navigate where ever they want, when i take some pics and post it on a web they are amazed by the quality(they arent professional photographers) so yes it wows them, when i play movies and its loud enough from my phone that they can hear, when i record a video of them in action or there child and then edit it and merge them and then add music before i even leave there house or a party were at they are amazed.

When i can just connect my phone to there comp and transfer movies and songs right from my device so they can load it on theres, they are amazed.

So thats why i say all this bashing and outdated stuff is true to a certain extent, but then give me a device that can do what i just said i do and i will gladly leave, i can care less about sms im not a texter but after using free isms i can see how valuable it is, i can care less about facebook, or youtube ima mailman and dont even care about the way nokia email is i never had an issue reading , forwarding and responding to emails.

You might not care for the camera but plenty do, as well as music more people bought the iphone because of the ipod part then the actual phone part IMHO, the needs people in the iphone forum cry for is exactly what we have now, better camera, video recording, mms, full gps, multi tasking , copy and paste and flash in browser, very few ask for a bigger processor because majority have no clue. I know these issues will be addressed as well as when jailbroken they are all i am doing is making a point of what people actually want on the overall. :buddies:

and how long did it take nokia to release v20 firmware?

You did mention you did not know what was the cause of the lag.
Yet the most plausible answer is the processor

Hey, I never said that those services are excellent and are must have for all. But this is "Nokia" claim in their value for their devices. And they are spending truckload of $ on it.

Some people love those services and support others may hate it. To each their own. One thing I can be sure of is that Nokia is at least trying to improve their services with OS and Software updates.

Comfort is given to people who buy their product when they know if there's bugs or problems with the device there's most likely an update on the road to fix it.

If none of those services are not considered in your purchasing decision, then you should look for the OS with apps that meets your need and the best hardware - I have no argument with that.

Did I mention that I'm getting the Omnia HD and the N97?

I'm not a hater or lover of any particular product, but am trying to figure out what fits my need best and share some thoughts.
