I agree that some companies, including Nokia seem to repackage and sell updated versions of the same phone. Whether it was the same phone with the added internet package or music package, or improved specs like the different versions of the N95. Or perhaps a sleeker, maybe lighter version of a previous phone with a few new things under the hood. (N95 to N96 to N85 to N86)
I think it is great for Nokia if they can produce new phones every year, with a few tweaks of a previous model and people flock to buy them.
I dont think its great when Nokia removes one of the single most important features of its "imaging" device (xenon) and expects me to throw down my money to buy it because its the newest model.
This is why I think there has to be another phone in the works. With its current announcements, Nokia has ignored the entire candybar form factor. The only phones new phones that they are offering that do not have moving parts are the E series. I dont think nokia would shun an entire market segment.
I still stand by my previous post. The N85, N86, and N96 are just reworked N95's. The form factor alone proves this. Nokia is riding the N95 gravy train as long as it can. The N86 camera will be decent, the same way the N95's camera was great, until Nokia released the N82.
Please remember, I am not asking for xenon on every phone that Nokia makes,, just on the one that they market as their best Camera phone.
If Nokia truely listened to the people that purchased its imaging devices, like the N82.. They would know that we dont want 8mp, the MP race is a joke. What we want is xenon and if they really wanted to make us happy throw in 3G, to boot on the same phone.
