*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

Can anyone confirm the remained hackability if you hack v11, upgrade to v20, will it still be hacked?

Also, I have been reading in other forums as well and read about camera lenses getting small scratches as well as the back of the front half of the slide. Is this affecting anyone else here?
They commented on a new camera module being released in the near future to fix the scratching. I just wanna know if I should jump now or wait to jump till everything is worked out because I'm really excited about this phone. But hacking and build are very important coming from my n95-4

Mine looks like its 0590552. What's the difference between the two codes? Why would Nokia make the update available for one of the codes and not the other, if the update you get is going to be the same anyway?

I'm sorry to hear this. I'm glad I waited to hear about the issues first before buying. The call quality would be a deal breaker for me, not so much of the wobbly slider. I'm glad I got the N95 again. I can deal with abit of a wobbly slider. The N95 has excellent RF and call quality, not to mention the loudest speakers out there.

Go to the GSM buy sell trade forum on hofo, probably your easiest and best shot at selling. If nokia does have a trade in service, they will probably not give you much for it, if anything at all.

Been taken a lot of night time pictures recently and noticed every 5th or 6th pic I take the flash doesn't work for some reason.Anybody else have similarly problems.

In defence of nokia's q1 profits drop, remember they barely released any new phones at all. And the world economy tanked. But they should be worried and the true test will be the next few quarters to really know how bad things are for them.

You may not be personally excited by this phone but you do understand if some of us are. The 5800 and the E71 are top sellers and have it's own fans too. Hope you will find your device to suite your own needs.

The slider mechanism is the best among the sliders mentioned according to the reviews. The price is the major drawback for me at least in my side of the globe.

I think we should all wait till the test pics come out to judge, but my biggest disappointment with Nokia (and for that matter SE) is that they announce phones 6 months before release. By the time it is released new better phones have come out to challenge.

I'm excited about the N97 and N86, but when they come out, other companies will have moved on the game. Personally like how Nokia handles the E-series in comparison. Quick announcement and quick releases.

I agree 100%. I see Nokia going only one way from here... that is DOWN. :disappoin

I was expecting atleast the next communicator. They keep releasing the same crappy phones E55 & E75. Where is the innovation?

So earlier today, the NokiaUSA site wasn't showing the "Pre-order the N86" banner, leading me to believe Nokia is shipping them too. Now, the banner is back. Just talked to a Nokia rep on the phone, and I was told it still says the release date for the N86 is in October. Anyone who ordered with Nokia get a shipping confirmation yet?

Yeah, I think v20 will be the deal breaker for many people regarding the N97 - - if it transforms the phone as many think it will, it may become the new N95 (did I just say that!?).

I would un-check the "Network-based" method. I think this uses the cell tower triangulation and may be confusing the GPS app. I've never had this method checked, so I can't say for certain what impact it may have.
