*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

For any1 who does not like his/her slider, I've a quick fix. I used a 3M scotch tape and applied 3 layers of it underneath the top of slider and one layer of it underneath the bottom part of the slider by revealing the media keys.I've small fingers, I cut and applied tape precisely and wow the slider is rock solid now, no play whatsoever, just for the heck of testing, I fired up Prince of Persia and played with media keys, the whole gaming experience is a lot better, no more rattle and annoying play in the slider. I'll replace the tape once it's worn out. I did the same thing with N85, though it did not stop me from selling cheapo plastic creaky N85

Another reason that I cant figure out, why nokia didnt release a NAM version with the Euro version. By the time the thing hits the NAM market, it will have lost value due to the Euro one being out for a couple of months.

Why wouldnt Nokia release both and at least make some extra cash on the people that have to be first in line.

Nikki:
Have you tried the 'panorama' photo mode yet? If you have could you post a photo? if you haven't would you mind testing it for us?

thanks in advance for your time and trouble.

I agree CB... all very very good points. The amount of people looking to pay a decent amount of mmoney for nontouch/nonqwerty phones is sliiiim. I guess I"ll pass on the dell deal as it seems dell always has coupons.

Now your changing your mind, you said they could not put xenon in a slider. Now your stating that they cant put it in the n86 because its too thin. Come on!! If nokia wanted to they could have added 1mm and fit the xenon into the n86. So, why didnt nokia put the xenon in the n95, it is just as thick as the c905????

I would have taken third picture with a camera phone that has LED, but I wouldnt waste my money on one. I am sure there are a lot of people on here that have crappy pictures that they have taken with their LED equipped phones in bars, or concerts or wherever. The point I was making was the drastic difference in lighting the xenon makes in low light pictures.

I visited the nokia store earlier today and asked the sales rep - he said, "we have no information on the n86"... i was tempted to pick up a n810 or n97 to satisfy my craving for a gadget.

First off, BG is a smug [expletive] so I can care less about what he or any of his cronies have to say about anything.

I watched Noah's(Phonedog) video preview of the N86 @ MWC and he said it was a solid-feeling device so I don't know. We'll all have to wait for the production models to hit the shelves.

Mobileburn also has a very good preview video in HD. Like Noah they too praised the hardware so maybe you're right about BG.

I just turn off my email notifications.

Its still a pretty good thread. I am grateful for people that point out both the good and the bad of a phone. It allows me to make an informed decision before I buy.

Unfortunately there are only 3 or 4 people here on HOFO that actually have this phone already. So we have to rely on third party reviews.

Hi Mark! I know, I was surprised! I tried zooming like twice on the N82 and quickly learned NEVER to do it again. Hmmm, I wonder if the zoom's as good when I take a pic?

Gordon, how do you find the action on the auto-focus/shutter release button? Others have reported it can be a bit dodgy, maybe causing excessive movement of the phone while trying to take a picture. Any issues for you?

Cheers.

thats correct, if he sends them i will post both on here so the screen has nothing to do with it. I hope he was wise enough to realize that when he took the pics that one screen is brighter before he told me that.

I always save the .sis program files, and contacts onto the memory card... that way when you update firmware you can format the phone and install the programs from scratch without having to use the computer.....

Oh yea and my n86 doesn't have a software update yet.... still on v20.. mine is the asia / thailand version
