*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

You guys sure make a fuss about a white phone.
I know this is going to offend some of you, but white phones look very feminine to me, might as well be pink or purple.
Don't take it personal, it's just my opinion.

ok... because i dont want to search 100+ pages of posts, i want to know where i can locate a few things:

1. Newest display, cam and audio drivers.

2. accelerometer apps.

3. good mods/tricks for the phone.

Getting this phone in about a week, and would like to have these things ready to go before i get it... had a post listed in the main nokia directory, but they said to come here, or try places like symbian-guru, ect...

Because a quad band 3g chip still hasn't been made small enough to work normally with all 4 bands. So most manufacturers are limited to 3 bands only at the moment. It will eventually get up to quad band just like it took a while longer for quad band gsm to come out. Its just taking time to get the antenna technology good enough.

Colour/looks is a big deal. :p But seriously, they do need to get the CPU/RAM right and whatever issues it currently has. I love black phones as well, so I'm good to go.

I do understand others wanting the white colour. Black is a very common colour and white does stand out. I have to admit the white caught my attention and I wanted that colour. We're already waiting forever for the NAM to be released, I'm not going to wait and see if they release the white one.

it's a smartphone with lots of features. I don't know how the community at large defines these things, but if anything it's a smart featurephone... which is why I want it. :buddies:

Depends on your use. If push email is necessary then it's not pointless and is hugely more energy efficient that 5 minute polling.

If you don't require Mail for Exchange for work you can use that to get push email service with Gmail now. Or you can install RoadSync and get support for two Exchange accounts.

I preordered with Amazon, it says that I cannot change or cancel my order because they are preparing it for shipment.

I just checked Amazon again and now it says that the phone has yet to arrive, what is going on???

I'm sure you will be ok.

But let me ask you this. Why did you buy the E75?

The N86 and the E75 are completely different models and usually appeal to different users.

You also used the HTC touch dual before that. Its obvious that you like the slider form factor. You seem to gravitate towards that style of phone.

I'm sure you will find the camera of the N86 to be miles ahead of the E75 and the HTC. So for you, I guess it is ground breaking.

f/2.4 is nice, it will definitely help.

I just found out that when Nokia has been saying "mechanical shutter" all these years the batards actually meant the lens cover.

This is the first with an actual shutter. It won't help in low light situations (the f/2.4 will for sure) but it will take better pictures in lit situations.

Also for focal length, I prefer personally prefer wide angle (which this camera has) because it lets you shoot nicer landscapes from a closer distance. It also makes sense since you can always shoot wide-angle and crop away later. It sort of makes up for the lack of optical zoom.

I'd have to say that looking at this phone a little more closely, that Nokia have made an effort to make the camera better.

However, the lack of Xenon is not something that can be compensated for with an larger aperture from f/2.8 to f/2.4. It will help, but not really much. That isn't even a full stop. It is half a stop. It's better than nothing for sure and appreciated, but in no way shape or form able to replace Xenon.

i agree with you 100000000% atleast they bringing s60 devices other than nokia. imagine if it was only nokia we be screwed atleast we got sammy and SE going foward with s60

That is just typical nokia bs. I have gone thru so many headsets because of similar issues with various phones. I will be using a nokia phone with a bluetooth headset and all works reasonably well, then when I buy a new nokia my headset will have the same issues you are having. Usually a firmware update to the phone fixes it. Every time I would switch phones this would happen. Even now my n86 will work, but it will drop the connection and need to be reconnected. I have a cheap moto h710 that usually works with most phones with a minimum of issues just in case of issues. I find the more expensive the headset is the more likely it is to have issues, so now I just keep use my cheap moto
