i agree 100% with you bro. i think nokia got something up their sleve with this one. this is time for nokia to show what they have. show & prove.

just wanted to let ppl know.

coreplayer works for n86 AND the video playback is very smooth. Running a High-Res 700mb AVI movie.

So much better than the realplayer that comes with the phone.

:2thumbs: Agree. I would prefer N86 anytime. Though the screen appears smaller compared to N96...but N86 looks more brighter and solid.

P.S - The transmitter thingy rocks :buddies: try doing that in your car FM, your friends would freak lol.

Don't use your phone on the streets of Manila.. lolz.. It will be gone, right before you know it..

I miss Philippines.. I'm due to go back there next year for vacation as well..

What Provider are you roaming or using?

I think T-Zones is the equivilant of AT&T's MEdianet, the crummy old WAP service they provided before 3G became more widely available. Either that or it is a cheese-covered bread phone stuffed with pepperoni, sausage and marinara sauce

The Nokia Messaging service is not turned on in all regions yet, the US being one of them. For US users I believe it's still on a trial basis. So samsung.user, you can go to the web site, sign up for an account and provision your device to push up to 10 email accounts to your phone. Sign up for an account, set up your Gmail accout and then there's an install option. Select the N86 as your device and it will provision your phone to use the service.

I've been using this since very early beta and I've had very good service from it. Rarely has the service gone down for me and it works well with my Gmail account. I'm not saying that there haven't been periods of down time but it's been a beta service until recently.

The email client on the N86 is the latest from Nokia which support direct connect via POP/IMAP, push via Nokia Messaging and Mail for Exchange. Older Nokia's required an installation of another email program to support Nokia Messaging and yet another install to support Mail for Exchange. From my experience trialing an E75 the client was nicely integrated with some nice features, but it was in deperate need of software optimization to address lag issues.

My Review of N86-1

Built:
Good size, tad heavier and thickish. Phone feels solid in hands!
Same n85 wobble, not a lot, only when the slider is closed, this slight issue cannot be fixed with masking tape like I did with N85 because looseness is on the top two corners. Also, I noticed very small light leak next to call key.Over all it's solid and yes no creaks! :)

Keypad:

Nicely raised and good feedback, certainly better then creaky n85.All the keys are smooth and not stiff to use.Dpad is great.

Screen:
OLED is amazing.Nice, bright and crisp, but unlike n85, you can see little pixels. Nokia what were thinking, QVGA? yawn! :befuddled

Sound quality through speakers:
Not Louder than N95, hardly any bass.Better then N97. Why dint Nokia use 5800 speaker in flagship phones is a mystery. N97 deserved it.

Sound quality through Sony high quality headphones:
Loud and rich sound with enough bass and treble, good quality, Bass is lower than 5800.Note:All my songs are at 64kbps eAAC+

FM transmitter:

Weakish, but does the job, no static when kept 1-2 feet away from stereo.

Camera:
Certainly Nokia's best, yet to take a lot of pictures, but adding couple for you to see the image quality.

This is why I am glad I can live without having the latest technology. I set the price I am willing to pay for this phone and I wont buy it until it drops to that price. It also gives Nokia time to release a couple of fw's and I can know for certain that the phone doesnt have any major flaws.

I got the N86 to play both DivX and Xvid. It says it supports H.264 but I couldn't find a way to do it. The N86's screen is 0.2 inches smaller measured diagonally, but both phones have the same resolution so screen size is not justifiable in my opinion. If you want better video go with the INNOV8. If you want better images go with the N86.
