i can change the channels through 4100 remote but to change volume i have to use the surround remote. i can control the t.v. through the 4100 remote, i have scanned in the right code for it but should i not be able to control both chan and vol through 4100 rec?

When I first installed,I had a rough time getting the channels to change but persevered and they change (but slowly).

Since I installed the Tivo I can change channels with the Tivo remote or the Bell remote.

I am having new problem when recording to my Sony DVD/VCR. The DVD/VCR will change to the channel I set as long as the TV is ON. When it is set to start in the morning, the recorder starts, but for some reason tunes to channel 47 not the selected channel.

I also would like to get rid of the Bell Logo so I dont have to press Select on the Bell Remote or ENTER on the Tivo remote.

Hope this is clear enough and someone can advise.

Thanks

It is almost impossible, if not impossible, for your BEV remote to screw up your TV remote.

I test remotes for Universal Remote Control in the U.S., so I know a little about this.

Have you taken the batteries out of both remotes for about a half hour and then replaced them with good quality fresh batteries?

You'd be surprised what that can correct.

Greg

i am having a problem i am trying to upgrade my 2700 with a 4100 but when i hook it up and go to the point sat menu i get signal 90% but will not lock just says wrong satillite ive done a switch check and checked connections with both 2700 and another 4100 and they worked fine bev said cant activate without it locked can anyone please help

UPDATE:

1) Operator error with remote and volume problem! Doh!

2) Played around with adjustments on Sony Wega HD TV and am very happy with the SD channels now.

3) I see many people saying that their 4100 is very, very hot. Mine is hardly luke warm, even after playing for hours.

4) I don't have the problem with the sound drop out, although I haven't tried he optical cable yet.

Basically, other than having to put my sunglasses on just before I go to the program guide, I am very happy with my little 4100.

The volume output on the 4100 is fixed, it is not adjustable, like the old 2700's were.

Have you tried programming the 4100 remote (AUX) to work your home theatre system.?

I curent lived in a bell MDU (mult dwelling unit) in Nova Scotia. I recently had a problem with one of my 3100. I call bell to have programming upgraded and while talking to the rep I inform then that I was getting a 4100 next week to repalce the 3100. I was told by the bell rep the 4100 will not work in MDU building. I went out and purchase a 5900 which has fix the issue that was having with the 3100. I was wonder if there anyone living in bell MDU buidling ( when bell does not offer phone services like Alantic provinces) that can cofirm this for me.

Greg,

Can you tell us which "adjustments" you made that changed your SD picture from "pretty soft" to something you are "very happy" with. I keep wondering whether there is something more I can do. Thanks

Hi, I've had a 4100 for a while but recently it started stalling when changing channels. It never used to do it and I haven't changed any of my set up. It doesn't do it all the time and not on the same channels. What I mean by stalling is I'll be surfing and then when I stop on a channel it stays black for longer then usual - most of the time the channel shows itself almost instantly but other times it does this stalling - eventually it shows up but I think it's going to get worse. This happened to my previous 4100 so I got a replacement and it started happening almost immediately.

I hope someone can help or shed some light for me because I'm getting quite annoyed and don't know what to do, besides wanting to throw it at the wall. I'm assuming it's the receiver as it never occurred before and I haven't changed anything - is this a fair assumption. This is making me want to switch to Rogers.

Have you downloaded the Bell software onto it.?

My guess is that you have not. Turn off the receiver it should then download all the required software, after that you should see it lock onto the signals.

hi
I was talking to the tech from bev and he told me to replace the cables and plug receiver directly into the wall and retry but I still have no sigal lock redone check switch and checked both 82 and 91 sat on each transponder no change onlything I can see that is different is the firmware is E571 on the system info under sat 91 its green then "X" with red box white X. is there a way to update the firmware or anything else I can try to get a signal lock

The 4100 has known audio problems. In speaking with BEV just last night I was told there is a new s/w release. If your 4100 is not plugged into your phone line, do so to pull down the latest rev.

As far as the blurring goes, is this the first time you have seen it with an action shot? This could have to do with the quality of the feed. Some of the lower channels are not the best of quality ... not to metion they are SD signals being displayed on a larger TV that is more than likely upscaling.

Just bought 4 units for my house. Can't find the smart cards yet, the manual sais the units use cards. Will they be shipped to me once I call and choose my packages ??? Are these units cardless ?

Just in the last week, I've noticed very slight audio delays on some channels, but it is not consistent and certainly nowhere near as bad as yours.

Yes it is official the 4100 does not work well in MDU buildings because it does not cope with the down converters involved in a large building. I believe it is the only one with this kind of problems.

Well if the software is upto date and the 2700 and another 4100 both work, I would sumise it is the new 4100 that is defective. Try taking it to another location with Bell TV and check it out.

The Bell LOGO is there when the receiver is turned off so I do not thnk you will get rid of it.

A recent software update to the 4100 added a screensaver feature-not-bug. If you leave your receiver on for a certain length of time and don't use the remote, a big Bell logo bounces around the screen, telling you to "Press select to continue". I've found no way to disable this through the menu.

This is a serious concern for me because about 99% of my TV watching is pre-recorded. My recorder (TiVo) is capable of changing channels on the receiver, but the receiver must be on.

I called Bell to ask about disabling this, but their suggestions were:

1. turn the receiver off and back on 15 minutes before you want to record something. I guess if you go away for more than 24 hours though, too bad for you.

2. get a Bell PVR. Maybe when I go HD I will, but a TiVo >>> any Bell PVR.

So, does anyone know how I might disable this screensaver through a service menu or something? Can I roll back to a previous version of the software? Is there any chance Bell will realize the unintended (I hope) effect this has on those of use who record their signal and fix it? I've been quite happy with EVu since switching from Rogers about a year ago, but this could be a deal-breaker for me.

Do any of the other receivers have screensavers?

Hey, just picked on up today. Just wondering how you know when a movie/show is in 5.1 surround. Are there lots of 5.1 surround programs, cause my DD reciever only has 1 input, which currently is in use by my PS2. Thanks!
