I used my 4100 on a DP no problems at all. It was nice to get the few added SD channels when pulling in both 82 and 91. Don't see why a DPP would be any different. Like you said, just use the single connection. I'm actually looking to buy a sacond DP dish set up and use for BEV again.

They are compact, easy to set up, and basic enough for our granparents to use. On top of that those of us with a ht set up they are DD 5.1. At !00.00 per they are also cheap if you want to own it.

I know from experiencd that you can't try to split the signal of a single lnb to a standard 1 to 4 splitter.Or, any standard splitter for that matter. I also have the same splitter, it only works for OTA or cable tv signals. Ask the same question in the Expressview forum not the official 4100 owners forum. You'll get a lot more people seeing your question. you'll probably need to buy a dual output lnb and a special switch not a splitter. but, let someone with more experience in this answer this question.

I just bought one today. Works excellent, I find the guide is nice, but alittle to white. Also I find that when u switch from a channel that uses Dolby Digital, to a pcm Digital, my suround sound amp loses the signal on auto digital. Is anybody else haviung this problem?

OK - so I took a look at everything - here's my setup if anyone has any thoughts.

2 dishes - 1 Bell, 1 Hughes - 2 cables/connections off Bell, 1 off Hughes. 1 connection off Bell is mostly direct using RG/6.

Other 2 cables off dishes (1 off Bell and 1 off Hughes) - one is a white cable labeled RG59/U Coax and the other says Bonded Direct Burial Foam Super Colourduct 6/U 100% shielded UV low loss coax 9549T. Both these cables come into garage and hook into Spacelab MS-34, 3 input 4 way multi-switcher. 1 cable goes into LNC A and other cable (the white one) goes into LNC B leaving ANT empty. On the output, there are 4 labeled RCVR - 2 are connected with cables that go into the home - 1 cable is RG/6 2300 mhz E2069 18awg and the other one is the same as previously noted Bonded Direct Burial Foam...

On the dishes, I only have 1 of those head things on each dish (I think those are called LNBs no?)

Any thoughts anybody. I just didn't believe it was the setup as it previously worked fine.

Thanks.

Thanks. Strange they would be so much though. Bell's got the 4120 on for $99.00. Maybe that's with a contract?

One more thing, can someone please explain the difference between an express vu receiver and a dish network receiver?

Seen this problem few times already which usually means many others are seeing it as well.

DO NOT rely on a 4100 operating 100% if installed on top of a TV. Some TV's seem to be fine, others are not. I suspect that a component in the 4100 is sensitive to excessive EMI present with cheaper makes of TV. Apex, Citizen, Durabrand, etc... Move the 4100 a few inches away and voila... works great.

Otherwise, kudos to BEV for their agressive new approach to customer service and new technology.

Hey!

I just got my 4100 hooked up. I am totally new to DSS.

They hooked it up just using the coax to my TV and I find it a very soft image. I was on Shaw.

Do you think that when I hook up S-Video tomorrow that I should have a sharper image?

I tried playing with the Sharpness control on my TV, but even at its highest setting, it was still not as sharp as even most of the Shaw analog channels.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Greg

Well aparently this receiver does not get along with my Sony 27" TV, guide looks good on all my other tv's. I might have to adjust some settings.

I've noticed that occasionally the top info banner freezes for a few seconds. Basically you'll see the top half of the info banner (no text) and pressing any buttons on the remote results in nothing happening. It happens when i enter a channel number to change the channel.

Hey your right. I've owned this unit for 1.5 years and never realized it. But, maybe you will need to adjust the screen in the tv set up instead ?

Best way to avoid taping a 2 hours of the nice Bell screen saver is to set the recording that way.

1)Open the VCR, go in the menu, create a timer for the time of the show, at channel always put 003 if you are using coax cable and L1 if you are using RCA

2)take you Express Vu remote and set the timer on the top left part you're gonna have different option like VCR event, Recall and Auto Tune. Select auto tune

Enjoy your show!

I believe that $99 is the standard price today at least. You might find one of the older receivers for less though. I purchased the receivers only (4100), not the 4120.

Dish network is an American Satellite company like Bell. Both Bell and Dish use Echostar receivers. They run different software though and, as far as I know, are not interchangeable. I'm certain Bell wouldn't activate a Dish branded receiver.

Does anyone still have audio hiccups through the Dolby digital audio output?
I still get them when the encoding is DD2.0 (even after the last update).

Yeah having the same problem here.........worked fine out of the box but the next day it started having the problem. My receiver is having a hard time detecting the signal also. Hope this won't be a common complaint.

According to the literature, because you already have a 9200 on the DPP, adding the 4100 will work. Apparently, the 9200 runs the DPP.

Now my question is, will a 4100 on its own work with a DPP. I just bought one, installed it at home, and it fails the check switch. I'm wondering if that is normal for JUST a 4100 on the DPP, or if its a faulty DPP.

can anyone tell me where on the 4100 stb I should stick the ir reciever as i can't see anything through the smoked front panel?
