Obama targets private jets, Big Oil

That's nice..... and absolutely worthless as an argument about them supposedly "paying their fair share."

The marginal utility of the taxable income of the poor is FAR higher than any of those worthless percentages could assist in determining.

Except you do get the same treatment. If you use you car for business purposes (other than your daily commute) you can track the mileage and take a deduction. Or, if you'd prefer, you can track and deduct the actual costs.

The more you know

In your graph the whole pie gets bigger. Just because the top 1% made more doesn't mean they made it by preventing the bottom fifth from doing it (absent government force such as taxes, subsidies, and regulations\monopoly)

You're basing your assumption on the idea that for person X to make money, person Y has to lose money

Yea, oil companies pay very well, at least to my frienRAB that work there. They are also the biggest companies on the planet in terms of revenue (7 of the top 10). So that's not surprising.

As a clause, I wasn't advocating people using government to achieve those enRAB, just that it's the reason they do.

So what do you suggest for fixing this huge deficit on the economy. Ever since Reaganomics went in motion, the economy has been slowily plummeting.

how many units of happiness do i get from trolling you, karen? could you tell me if i told you my salary and created a budget constraint?

I can choose what treatment works for me, a doctor can make a suggestion on what has been observed to work. I can choose accordingly to my values and what maximizes my silver dildos. I can do that with taxes? What if the average rate the thugs have determined for me doesn't quite work? What then?

You're a moron if you think you can find ANY dictionary that defines "fair taxation" ... much less defines it as "proportional to national share of income"

Nope. That is bull shit and you know it.

The deduction threshold for that is below my standard deductions and personal exemptions. Like it is for nearly every other working American.

Keep plodding along on that tack.

See who I vote for.

Yes. When politicians give their corporate buddies $$$, they use classic fear-mongering that works well vs. simpletons: If the tax payer doesn't pay $700 billion to the big banks, we will all suffer economic armageddon!

Then when they need to win political points, they syrabolically slam a tax on a conspicuous practice of the rich and gain 'man-of-the-people' cred.

I could have sworn the deduction threshold was $166,800. Didn't realize nearly every other working American was doing so well. You'd think the economy would be in better shape.

By rich class do you mean corporations or the casual lottery millionaire? Because if it is the prior, then I am sad to inform you that you are wrong. Corporations nickel and dime the IRS and in the end, they don't pay taxes with the usual threats of taking their business out of the country.

Examples: GE.
