Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Nope. Just because it hasn't been reported yet, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. News sometimes comes from these very forums first and then the blogs post them after reading the forums. The product code is some weird variant, as it had the v31 first also, then it was pulled.

Kits, this is available on S60, just not as a standard feature. The solution is called SkyeQuiKey.

I use and depend on this app every day. Start typing out anything: name, number, bookmark, app, whatever, and it will show up. This works the same for numbers.

This app is always running now on my N95 and will run on any future S60 device I purchase. It is something that should be standardized in the interface, but for now i will take the alternative.

It is available for a small one time fee, or free for those who are not as "moral" with their software purchasing.

With the full on screen keyboard, how would you guys have designed it to make a bigger text window while still leaving enough room for the actual keys? I can't see many options beyond how they did it. Looks non feasible to me and i think they would have done it if possible.

It is linked to the ringer volume. If I reduce the ringer volume, the email alert tone reduces as well, but I need to keep the ringer volume close to the max, however that also makes the email alert much louder than I prefer.

I've noticed that with the 5800, you need to do a lot of tapping just to send a text message. For example, when you open up the text message screen, you have to tap on the To field then either click the Add Contact icon or enter a number. Then, you tap on the message to bring up the keyboard. After that, you need to tap on the green check icon to exit the text message edit screen and then tap on Option then Send on the current screen to actually send the message.

Am I missing a shortcut trick here or this is how it is on the 5800?

Thanks.

I'll try to hook it up to a computer with NSU or NSS to find the code. Been away from Symbian, since now using the 3Gs and Telus Hero. I think i listed it in this thread from early last year if you wanna search for it.

I believe 5800 has a regular Nokia messaging email installation now. There was a trick earlier where you had to download and install it half way and then request a text from Nokia messaging to finish it but the last time I installed it it was a breeze, just clicked the link in the text message and it downloaded and installed. I am using Roadsync now. I must say it's great.

I just found out about this and couple more apps (http://www.t9nav.com) that can do this for S60. So, I am already debating about N96 or N95. I want to check out in person who much difference a 2.6 to 2.8 screen makes as I didn't find much improvement in screen size from my current 2.4" W910 to 2.6" N85.
