Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Thank you all, mcdull, hardballer, and RogerPodactor,

I read that its an advanced way to log on to wifi, I was hoping our symbian phones could do it somehow I just didn't know. As RP said it, Sucks.

Lets hope there is an interest to be able to do this because my sister says thats the only thing she doesn't like is not being able to get wi-fi on campus while her i-friends can.

Quick question... how is it at playing converted DVDs and stuff? I watch a lot of shows and movies on my phones. Thanks. Oh yeah, it has stereo BT, right?

I updated Mobbler yesterday and it is giving me some sort of error. I think it was track banned or something to that effect (I'm not a subscriber). Which version should I be using? I tried to go back to the previous version and now it's giving me Error 403, which I had never seen before yesterday.

Thanks!

i am on the official v21 through NSU without a product code change and the "LiveTV" app is also in the App. Update. this does not mean that v31 is not designated for NAM. stop jumping to conclusions.

hey guys, figured out the whole handy task man thing. One more question, whats the quickest way to search your contacts? i'm coming from the e71, where i can just start pressing in the persons name. I'm using handy taskman btw.

also, any update to garmin mobile working on the nam?

Ok.. have another BIG problem.. went to grab my phone to do whatever. Soon as I unlock the phone, click on the menu button, then click on APPLICATIONS, the screen goes wonky on me, blanks out, then my current theme drops and is replaced by the default. All my themes/apps/videos/music are on the 16gb sandisk memory card I have. Now it won't pick up the card. It'll recognize that out of the initial 14gb available there was only 5.9 left, but it won't show the contents. I've tried shutting the phone off/on, but nothing seems to work. When I try to use file manager to view the card, I double click on the E: icon, but after several seconds comes back with (no data). I'd hate to format the card and start copying/installing everything all over again.

Any clues?

When I select a phone number from the address book I get a prompt and one of the options is "call". This option has a sub-menu with "voice call" and "video call".

It really bugs me having to go through these menus because I have no intention of ever making a video call. Ideally, I would like it to make the call when I select the number, but at least don't make me go through that final step of specifying that I want a voice call.

Is there some way to change this?

i get about 2 days of use.
hour of calls each day. about 200 (including sent and receiving and also mms) messages exchanged. and about 10 minutes of wifi surfing.

mines perfectly fine. i did have it freeze on me once. but i'm thinking it was due to the opera mini. after a fresh install + reboot. it's been fine ever since.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaE71-2/200.21.118; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

can anyone confirm psiloc connect works with thiss phone. I assume it would.

From main menu;
white button
messaging (single tap 1t)
inbox (double tap)
selecting any sms (double tap)

When I'm finished composing the body of the sms., hitting the green check mark, brings me back to the overview page for the sms where it lists the recipients name. I THEN need to click the envelope to send as the green check mark does not appear in this menu (pointless anyway as I'm already one extra click just to send a darn sms). Hitting the green check mark does NOT skip the extra step I indicated.

i used to be like that. then one day i thought i would try it (this was a few years ago, so i'm stuck on edge lol). it was slow as hell, but it had it's pros. sure kept me busy when i got bored. now with 3G and everything. you can do a heck of a lot more. edge speeds are faster as well. and this phone is definitely great with a data plan.

here's a blog post for windows mobile version of google maps which clearly talks about the top right number meaning number os satellites connected. just search google its all over the blogs.

http://community.softteq.com/blogs/...-maps-v-s-live-search-for-windows-mobile.aspx

you'll see that if you run location and google maps together, this number fluctuates exactly together, everytime. if there's 8 blue connections, the number shows 8, if its 5, it shows 5. its dead on and you have to be quick when switching between apps cause the number tends to jump. but once in a while you will get it to stabilize and the numbers clearly match when stabilized. how could this be a coincidence? lol :D
