Mamma Mia!

Because that part WAS sung live. There were snippets sung live in the film, start and end of Chiquitita for example. The start of Super Trouper is another example of this :p

Watched this on DVD for the first time and I have no idea what I made of it.

I think I found the first half quite annoying - it was just a little too over the top and I couldn't quite hack all the squealing (that isn't a comment about the singing) I just didn't buy that these people were really 'that' happy and it felt forced.

However, the last part of the film was far greater and Meryl Streep doing the 'Winner Takes it All' was fantastic, by far the highlight of the film. Julie Walters turn in 'Take a Chance' was also very funny.

I can only imagine what Pierce must sound like 'raw' :D and perhaps a stronger singer would have helped.

so, yes, I just dont know. Abba is fun (who doesn't like a little bit of cheesy abba now and then?!) I love Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, Colin Firth...but somehow this one has just about slipped through the net for me.

I saw it earlier. It was a good film but felt abit weak on the storyline. They just seemed to be shoving songs in where ever they could and it seemed abit irritating.

Julie Walters and Christine Baranski steal the show IMO and they were absolutely brilliant. Her 3 potential fathers were also very good. It's a fun movie but certainly not the best musical I've seen.

I also suppose they wanted to get rid of filler, for example "Thank You For The Music" is nice onstage but adRAB nothing to the story, "One Of Us" isn't really needed as Donna sings The Winner Takes It All already, and Under Attack I would guess would not work nearly as well on the big screen as it does on stage.

Abba's USA hits catalogue isn't really that different to the UK one, so I suppose less well known songs like "Our Last Summer" "Slipping Through My Fingers" and "Honey Honey" that were never hits in the UK are there more because they fit in well with the story.

I have loved ABBA since was a child - that's a lot of lovin' I can tell you

I went with my mum to see the film - and cringed in my set - truly awful -

Shame as I had so looked forward to it -

Out of curiosity, surely its also got to have the record of the longest screening of any modern film? How many weeks has it been now?

Looking forward to seeing this again for my birthday next weekend. :D

Planning on importing the Region One version of the DVD. Not very impressed with the range of features on the Region Two. :( AND I prefer the Amanda Seyfried cover art, although I'll have to wait until December!

COME ON MAMMA MIA! Keep climbing!!!!

from universals point of view it would be brilliant PR if they got past titantic and it would be like sticking 2 fingers up at the critics who savaged this movie paticullay in america where people have little sense of humour or have little idea what this movie really is about and you cant argue with the fact mm has beat 3 lor films and 3 hpotter films and more important dark knight in the uk !..again its the peoples power that matters not the sad critics !!

Just got a e mail from my local movie house with the times for next week from tomorrow(Friday) and its still going to be show 4 times a day.

Keep going Mamma mia.
