Mamma Mia!

Also its beaten titanic in one way by becoming the fastest selling dvd on its first day !at 1.6 million copies ! Think itll sell alot more in the coming weeks!

thats interesting !! they brought the singalong to boost the total in august!!.. i think only a re-release after the dvd launch will top titanics total and feel itll be as popular as ever as despite millions wanting the dvd there is nothing like seeing mamma mia on the big screen!

Well, I didn't really go in expecting anything to be honest. I wanted to see WALL.E, but the ticket machines were bust and the queues were massive. By the time we got to the ticket counter we were too late for that, so my gf convinced me to go and see this instead. As it was basically free, because we have those unlimted membership things, I thought "How bad can it be? I will give it a chance"

I am not making THAT mistake again, I can tell you!

To be fair I don't like musicals, but I have seen others at the theatre, and watched some musical films, and all of them were much, much better than this. Also I quite like ABBA in a kitsch sort of way, so I thought it might be a fun atmosphere like you say, but I'm afraid I just found it too shallow and contrived by far. Maybe if they had made out like the singing was MEANT to be really bad, they could have got away with it, I dunno.

Saw it for the 1st time last night and its brill, will have to go and see it a few more times i think lol

How long will it run for?? I can see it going on for a few more weeks yet.

Saw it the first week and enjoyed it a lot though I couldn't stand the screeching.

In the talking as well as the singing.:p

Have seen the stage show twice and that I warmly recommend, as for a start you don't get people in the West End who can't sing.

Meryl is excellent though, and Skiathos and Skopelos look totally ravishing. The songs do carry it.

Agree with you on the deleted scenes bar one! the first deleted scene which gave more extended detail on the 3"daRAB" leaving for the wedding , paticulally the scene where Colin Firth looked out of his car window at a dad with his kiRAB in the park !found that quite touching ,think they should have kept these extended bits of the 3 men leaving , in the film and a few people ive spoke to have said the same !

Quite agree, I think a rerelease is quite likely so they can say it's the top grossing movie in the UK ever and I can't think of another movie i'd like to have that title :D.

saw it on thurs when it came out and it was amazing!! me and my frienRAB have seen the stage show twice and it was just as good!! we are going to see it again!! yay!! lol cant wait! we had my mamma mia stage show cd in the car on the way home on thursday so we sang along really loud with the music blasting people sure looked at us werid lol

It was meant to be bad. It's a film that didn't take itself seriously starring actors who most definately weren't taking themselves seriously. It's almost like a parody.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you don't like musicals, so i'm guessing that's made you rather biased :p

meryl streep described in an interview the "lay all your love on me" scene as "hot" also the flipper dancing scene on the jetty is very funny ...cant wait for the dvd ..in fact on utube one can view the full videos of the songs now!

I saw it last night.

I thought Meryl was fantastic, I loved the whole thing - the bit when the end credits came up was class too.
PB was a bit cringy but hey its all fun.

Mamma Mia just keeps up the trend of great modern musicals. (The Producers, Hairspray). Just hope Hollywood doesn't go and stuff it up with some "cheap cash in".
