Mamma Mia!

It just proves the amazing popularity, demand ,and staying power of a film thats still going after 18 weeks and possible more ! There cant be many films that have lasted so long in the uk top ten and been regullaly seen over and over again!

Well they say mamma mias been seen by over 10 million people in the uk alone ! (surely its more than that?) and is the all time uk best selling movie with receipts of nearly

Wow has anyone seen this film and not loved it?

I saw it last night and really found myself enjoying it too, even though I wasn't quite sure what to expect - I do like most Abba songs but hadn't seen the stage show. I hadn't seen too many clips so far apart from a bit of Dancing Queen on Jonathon Ross (where he also questioned Piers' singing ability), but it had given me a basic outline of the premise.

It all seems to work really, really well though. Ok some of the singing is a bit ropey in places, but it just seems to add character to it all the more - they are certainly putting their hearts into the worRAB and Winner Takes It All was just sublime.

It doesn't really reach anywhere near the heights of Hairspray for me, but that is one of my alltime favourite films - considering I knew none of the songs prior to watching it, that one still has me singing those songs a year on! In fact I now have Good Morning Baltimore / I can hear the bells going round in my head just thinking about it!

Mamma Mia is still a wonderfully cheesy and camp excuse for belting out Abba numbers though and I have no doubt I'll be adding it to my Blu-ray collection and embarassing myself at home (managed to just about avoid doing so at the cinema). It did make me instantly want to watch Muriel's Wedding again though!

Well your opinion of my opinion is tripe too

I've seen enough clips to tell me all I need to know.

If it looks likes horse crap and smell like horse crap then....

Still some people are easily amused I guess.

Went to see the film yesterday and loved it! Meryl Streep was outstanding in it! Julie Walters was very funny, especially in the last part of the film. :D I thought that Pierce Brosnan should have sung "I can't dance, I can't sing" instead of SOS. ;) He played a good part though.

I thought Colin Firth was so miscast in Mama Mia! He is so not gay. :p Also how hot was the kiss between Meryl and Pierce... wow!

If the film had only been about the youngsters and the fianc

It was the fact they seem to have a one person vendetta against Meryl Streep and all they're going from on the "howling" thing are the few clips they've seen. The Winner Takes It All and the way she sings it (ie a tad shouty) fit in with the scene and the context.

Just watched it tonight and i thought it was great.
9/10:)
I don't normally like musicals but it surprised me. There was quite alot of funny scenes. I'll get it on DVD when its out.
Definitely recommend it for everyone.

In films, to me .comedy is so important and in mamma mia there are so many funny lines and comic moments that made me smile throughout the film!! and aswell as Julie Walters being naturally funny, in Meryl Streep i seen a comic personality ive never seen in her other films before.

i dont think pierce brosnans singing is that bad ...ive heard worse and think colin firths singing was quite good ..universal could have picked great singers but then the film wouldnt have got the publicity and notirity of 2 big screen stars promoting the film !....i wonder if thisll be the top selling dvd ever !!

Whilst The Dark Knight is the superior film quality wise, it's been a long time since i've been as entertained by a film as I have with Mamma Mia, it's also the first time i've been to the cinema to see a film more than twice (6 times in total).
Mamma Mia = Fun escapism and stanRAB up to repeat viewings
Dark Knight = Doomy and Gloomy and doesn't stand up to repeat viewings as well as Mamma Mia
