Can I read the original firmware to a temp file for use if i wont to go back to the old firmware ?

I agree - it is a pretty good firmware - and thanks again (very very much!) for the incredibly helpful guide. I'm a newbie at this phone firmware flashing business so the guide was perfect for me.

One question though - has anyone else lost the ability to check their Gmail using the F480 since flashing to XXFH7?
It's weird, but since updating I can't go to any Gmail site - can't even download the mobile Gmail app - because I ALWAYS get the message "Connection failed. Try again?"
The rest of the internet browsing is fine, and I've been able to use Yahoo! Mail fine, just not Google Mail.

Oh, and Shozu, the photo uploadiong app has also stopped working - it seems to work OK to begin with, but the upload never goes anywhere, just stays on the screen forever at 0%.

Spoke to T-Mobile here in the Uk and they had no idea what the problem might be, except to say that it wasn't a problem at their end.

Wouldnt think so as its an older FW, look on this thread for explanation on year etc.

Wat network and where are you on?

When did you get the Tocco? that seems a very new FW, whats it like? menu speeds? Camera quality, Music player list speeds? etc?

cheers

ok so *#6984125*# will let you admin menu and *#9072641*# should do the trick with internals or pre set if there are such options, of course talking about xehf3 and xxhf7 and any xehf(x), xxhf(x) where (x)= revision version, they may not work on branded fws since they are usu changed

well, the case looks like this,

they will know this is different firmware of course, to be 100% sure you would have to get your firmware first as a backup, then if something is wrong with the phone you flash it with the fw that you had and no problem, and yes, I know there might be helluva hard to get your current firmware [as a backup] - the only minus

it all depends on the company, in poland ther is a provider, according to which the telephone is YOUR property, so you can remove the simlock, change the fw if you only want, unfortunatley there are not many such companies

probalby you won't be able to go into download mode because you've got the "L" version, check that first, and yes it's safe, takes about 5-7 minutes and relatively easy

if you flash the phone yourselves, you void your warranty, there are exception, like over the air updates, and from companies that allow you to do this through it's own site.

and my phone doesn't show the video title.

Is it possible to flash back to the original firmware if you don't like the new firmware?

Thanks,

Hey were u able to put the phone in flash mode? I think we are having problem with it cause of the F480L version. If u have a solution I am all ears.

Thanks

Nice collection but it seems to be only for Russian language (+ other languages that could came in same pack). It would be nice to have same collection including all languges available.

About F480 latest ROM listed is F480XEHF3
(XE = Bulgaria, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine)
when latest available is F480XXHF7
(XX = Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, etc)

please please please, check up first before you comment on ppls post, most samsungs phone does have a secret engineering menu, whether they have a track record is another thing, check up on this thread if you haven't read through it, it's also in the samsung section of the howardforums.

And about the roms extracted from phones, it is possible, I wasn't referring it can be done on samsung phones, but as a overall in the phone industry. I for one have done this on a motorola phone model rokr E1, you need info, check up on the motorola section in howardforums.

there are many shops in hong kong thaat will install f/w for you for a small charge, most grey import phone's are english or other european language f/w, and ppl wants chinese, this is the only way to have them installed if you dont know how to DIY, not everyone likes to search forums for info, and manufacture in hong kong will not install a chinese f/w in a imported phone.

i did brick my phone then fixed it. so the problem is that first you flash the boot (have boot checked) after that it restarts your phone then flash the rest of the stuff with out the boot checked. so you are flashing it liek 2 times. thats how it worked for me

I've the latest (available) FW and the camera is improved sure, faster shutter response & image on PC is good I've found anyway, as I mentioned above it still isn't great for a 5Mpxl camera especially in poorly lit situations.

I (personally) wouldn't worry too much about warranty issues, as has been said if all goes wrong (& if u can) revert the firmware if needed.........updating the firmware won't void the warranty with Orange (they simply won't check!) and Samsung (so long as it's an official FW they produced) that won't be an issue too........

Having said all that, updating the FW to F480XXHF7 will certainly improve things as discussed earlier, but if these improvements are 'that' great is a debate all on it's own.....camera lag IS improved, UI lag seems better but there's still certain menu's that lag as before.........the decision is yours, u do what u think best - personally, in your situation I'd hold off for a much improved FW before taking that....'risk'

I'm glad that its not just me then! I too have noticed an improvement, however I'm still quite annoyed. If you buy a phone with 5MP then you should get 5MP not a nearly 5MP. I always have a negative eye when it comes to things like this. Yes it is an improvement, but its still not perfect.

Hi

unless the F480xxhf7 has chinese as an optional language you wont be able to display chinese, otherwise you will need a F488 f/w which is for the asian market, the F488ZHHG1 is the newest f/w for the hong kong version of the F480, known as the F488, you will need too be in hong kong and have the hong kong version F488 in order for samsung to flash for you, otherwise it's unlikely for you to get hold of it, as most of the f/w you find on the net are never the same as the one's you get from the service centre.

there is a f/w in the first post that support chinese, may be you can use that one, but it is an old f/w.

Have you tried switching off the anti-shake feature? Apparently that makes a bit of a difference, I read on another forum...

What annoys me is the panoramic picture function - it might be able to take 180-degree pictures but the quality is dreadful! I mean, 483 pixels high by 1400 wide is a complete waste of time.

Does anyone have the firmware version F480JPHF2 or later? I really do need this flash file. Thanks.
