GUIDE: How to flash your F480 Tocco

****.. whenever my phone rings the melody starts very low and the after like 1 second gets a bit higher. I put the settings so it would ring and vibrate at the same time.. I've dubble checked so when I put it on just normal ring it still does the same sing. I have no idea because it's like i've put the ring settings to "sound increase" or what it's called in english.. hmm anyone know how I get it to just ring!
 
1. you shouldn't have ANY problems , I flashed my z400 over hundred times and ok

are you sure? they may say in orange that since you have changed the firmware you have void the warranty and thus they may cancel it and refuse to repair it for free.. a lot depends on a place/service

of course when you have not branded fw it doesn't matter then which revision on nonbrand you have
 
OK, success!!!

I didn't need that multiloader in the end, just used 5.33 instead but needed to click 'boot change' before anything else and load the boot files in the new fw, then selected 'full download' to load in the other files....

See picture below for settings required to get things working......



Then it's just a matter of following the previous instructions on page 5 to put the phone into boot mode, remove sim etc and connect up the phone to your PC and hit 'download' on Multiloader above.....5 mins later you'll see the new bootscreen (F488 Samsung) loading up.

BEFORE anyone rushes into this, please understand that when the phone starts up it will be in Chinese! all the menus etc BUT there is simple way to change to English (same as changing langauge on regular english phone, so check that out beforehand if u wish or follow.........)

1. From Widget screen hit bottom right button (menu)
2. From Menu hit bottom right icon (settings)
3. Select 4th icon down from top on resulting page (phone symbol with cog)
4 Select top icon from next list (Aa)
5. Select top (1) from next list
6. You'll than see 'English' second down on that page, select and hit very bottom right (in menu bar, save) then OK on popup if needed.
7. Phone language is now set to English.


Of course you'll need to set up your Browser & email settings to whatever your network setting are. Took me 5 mins to figure things out.


The result is a much more responsive phone with a few more settings as far as I can see too, most but not all of the menus are much faster but there is still a little lag on a couple.

That takes you to the same place as in WestHej's guide - fails to download the firmware from the boot downloader.
 
I have a F480 with F480BGHE1 ROM witch means:

BG: Telefonica (Movistar), Spain
HE: May 2008

Can I flash it with F480XXHF7?
My phone is locked on Movistar, once flashed with F480XXHF7 will it be unlocked?
Does F480XXHF7 offer any sort of menu for language selection? (no language selection in my current version)
 
I realise this has probably been asked a million times, I apologise, but since I'm confused with all the different firmwares mentioned, and I don't want to flash my phone with the wrong one, I'll ask anyway. The first post lists all the firmwares available, how do I know which is the correct, up to date firmware for my tocco?

I have a UK, unlocked, unbranded tocco running F480ADHD3. Is this up to date? I assume not, since it's not listed in the first post. But which firmware do I update to?
 
Ive had the same problem and had to flash back to the T-Mobile branded firmware because i cudnt access the sky sports mobile tv page or use shozu on further tracking down try going into the t-mobile settings and make sure the port is set to 8080 and there is no proxy address set. It should work then!
 
irvOoo: does chinese firmware have korean language as well????Also want to know if there is any difference for phonebook or font size?im using f480xxhf7...anything better than f480?
 
Oh Please pretty pity please I need the F480JPHF2 or later firmware... Thanks in advance...
 
Mmmm, well Samsung confirmed that there is a problem with Orange and the Tocco, apparently it's the branded software that Orange puts on them that's a problem. Orange admitted that there is a known problem with the Tocco but it is not considered serious (how many 17 second phone calls do people make?), a lot of reviews on the net now mention the call dropping as a serious problem with the phone which makes me think there's more wrong with the thing than just the Orange branding.

Unfortunately Orange basically told me to go jump when I tried to change the mobile for something that actually worked.

yes this firmware should have menu language selection
XX = Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
might have some more languages
no, flashing does not remove simlock, so it won't get unlocked
 
THANK YOU I LOVE EVERY BODY HERE. i been on alot of forums im my years but by far this is the best one. now would anybody know what is the tmobile internet setting for the states on this fone. thankl you
 
used to be normal ferature in samsung phones, at least there were similar problems with z400, only vodafone firmware was the one that had it changed
 
Hey I cant get my phone to be in flashing mode, I have tried so much convinations I think is the F480L version that doesnt let me flash it. If someone know how to put this version in to flash mode pls help me!!!
