GUIDE: How to flash your F480 Tocco

Sorry for any confusion - Samsung do write and release the new firmware, but they don't seem to promote it or make it easy to get hold of or to install.

I wouldn't like to comment on Samsung updating your phone if you returned it to them. I suspect they'd just send it back, especially if you've got branded firmware as many of us do (and I did - but flashing my phone got rid of that!), and you'd have merely been without your shiny new phone for a week or so.

What other improvements? Um, well, not a huge great many that I'm aware of.
My internet surfing seems slightly faster and more reliable now, but that could just be my imagination. Some people have said that the interface looks slightly different and is faster, but I haven't noticed any difference. The main difference is that all the T-Mobile gubbins on my phone has gone and so it works a bit better.

Honestly, I wouldn't be scared of updating your firmware - the instructions here are superb, and if a non-techie like me can do it then I'm sure you can, too!

Top of page 20 has a quote on what to do.
People saying it improves the camera.

So in general what you think of the camera? its a main reason I wanted one, a half decent camera. been of so far, Im on F480ADHD2 FW at mo, on a O2 contract, I was hoping for later FW than the HF7, as HG3 FW is out there now.
 
Oh, and I did have one other question...Can anyone confirm that Shozu still works after the flash? I do use it quite a lot and would be gutted if it gets broken!

I've flashed my Orange UK branded F480 to firmware F480XXHF7 without a hitch if anyone was wondering whether to do it or not! Is this the latest firmware still available? I wish they would add support for AAC tags. The music player is useless.

I think the interface seems a little faster but not really sure at the moment. Is there a way of disabling the menu tranisitons?

then google a bit, check in which pack there is swedish and then look for that one on the net

I just tried to flash my phone and something went wrong. Thanks *** I found out how to fix it. Now camera is great and my phone fm radio has RDS.
Keep up the *** work.
 
I don have any problems with it...only the camera is very slow n grainy even in the day time...
 
Some tips for you guys -

Camera test mode:

Press *#36287# key string in the dial screen to enter camera test mode -

[1] Auto focus [On]
[2] ISP firmware write
[3] ISP firmware version check

[1] Press the "1" key to disable auto focus. In order to enable auto focus, press the "1" key again.

[2] Press the "2" key to write the ISP (Camera Module) firmware. “ISP firmware write [Please wait]” will be displayed during 2 minutes. Then "ISP firmware write [SUCCESS]” will be displayed when the firmware upload finished.

[3] Press the "3" key to display ISP firmware version.
Latest ISP firmware should be 0x1f4d8723 (found in F480XXHF7)

no problem. If you follow the instructions on there you should be fine. Have flashed my phone 3 times now with no problems. I would say dont bother flashing it to a F488 though (Hong Kong). There is no benefit. Stick with the English firmware.
 
I have F480ADHD3 FW on my O2 contract Tocco. Just done the above check and it says mine also has ISP firmware 0x1f4d8723

So does this indicate that the newer XXHF7 FW does not have any upgrade in camera FW? maybe why its not any better that some ppl reporting.

Maybe Omnia ppl could check and see there ISP camera FW version?
