There's no way that drilling onshore could cause a disaster of this magnitude and any geyser of oil could be easily capped, as we've seen time and again in the Middle East.
For the third time, we have no business drilling that far offshore and that far down. The only reason we're there is because of the environmentalists and (possibly worse) the people that have the money to bitch about how they don't want to see oil rigs from their beach houses.

A commodity market means the supply is undifferentiated, and it doesn't matter who you buy it from it's going to affect the demand and the price, so it's impossible to boycott BPs oil specifically.
