It has nothing to do with using a different type of fuel, mankind is stuck with it until we run dry. It's preventing this shit to happen again or preventing it from happening in the first place.

I live where th red arrow is. Our part of the coast = oldest = longest w/o anything to build it up (Army Corps' managing of the Mississippi River is the reason for this).

Our part of the coast = the fastest eroding landmass in the world.


Once the oil gets well into the area, it's going to kill it all, and it won't be back


I live where the A. marker is. I marked the two bays they found oil in yesterday. The boom is ineffective and we lack what we need as far as boom goes. I just don't see how this will end well.
 
Once again this disaster was caused by lax training and faulty equipment designs, not the environmentalists. The same thing would happen on-shore because these companies want to minimize expense and will cut every corner to do so, as we've seen with this mess.
 
because we don't have the money. we've been trying for years to get assistance from the federal gov't but they've not helped.


the Federal Gov't makes billions in royalties from oil coming in through our state. A few years ago it was about $4 Billion. We got about $35 Million of that money to help fix our coast/state. Basically less than 1%.

Why? Because we told the federal gov't we weren't getting enough when they originally were deciding how much each state would be able to get.

They've now changed how that works and we actually get an alright amount, but it still isn't much. Louisiana has been dicked over pretty regularly by our own politicians and washington's.


Obama recently pledged support, but it's going to cost billions to fix our coast, and no one in this country cares enough about this shit.
