I'd say it was better for Rob shoehorning himself in. The banter made for a greater group atmosphere, like you'd invited your chums round for a comedy night. Otherwise it could turn into a dry, orderly Radio 4 panel game which is why I didn't worry about catching it. Can't say he'll always judge it right, though.
 
Yes I watch this. I think it's excellent. Lee Mack and David Mitchell are so funny.
I always Sky plus it and watch it on Saturday when The Muppet Show (x factor) is on.
 
Totally agree. I don't usually find that gut funny and last night was no difference. He was a week link in an otehrwise good show.

Jack Dee was hilarious.
 
I'm not sure sure. This was just half an hour and they had the entire series to extract it from. And although there were a few very funny bits towarRAB the end, up until then it had seemed just OK to me.

I preferred this. It annoys me when they have "best of" episodes, but this one seemed to consist entirely of new, unseen material.
 
I have been watching some old ones when Angus was host.

One thing that jumped out to me is that the programmes seemed hurried. Everyone had to have a go; it was more about guessing truth or lie; more decision less discussion.

IMO that is why this latest series has been so much better. There is much more banter between David Mitchell and Lee Mack. Guests are allowed to join in, and who really cares if the scores don't match up when you've had a damn fine belly laugh.

My personal jury is still out as to whether I prefer Deayton or Brydon - as long as they keep Mitchell & Mack I'm happy.
 
Indeed. Hugh Dennis was briiliant last time he was on. Fogle was merely unobjectionable but that's no bad thing considering who he is. Silverton has been okay without being remarkable when I've seen her on anything and Revel-Horwood could be anything from crap-fairly entertaining but will hopefully be better value than Anton Du Beke.
 
I wish Rob would stay quiet most of the time and just host the bloody show. I don't care about his impressions or about him joining in with his own truth or lie stories!
 
Another good episode, I wish it was longer, the 30 minutes fly by. From the way the scoring goes they obviously have more rounRAB so it's a shame they don't show them.

i loved lee mack on that programme he did with miranda hart and loved him on this
 
It was one of the best I thought. I've even kept it on Sky+ so I can watch it over and over again...Martin Clunes was so good.

This weeks was still good just not as hilarous. Jack Dee was on form but as someone else said, Jason Manford lacks something on these shows. Don't know why because he can be excellent on 8 out of 10 cats.
 
I agree with this. Angus and Rob's personal styles are very different but both work for this type of show.

However, the stars are undoubtedly David and Lee who have really honed their relationship/banter at this stage. To an extent, I wish whoever is responsible for shoehorning in Rob Brydon's slighly excessive contributions would realise this. Rob is funny and works well as host but just because he's the central figure does not make him the main man.
 
I don't mind the latter so much, as at least it goes to what the show is purportedly about. Although on this occasion it felt like an anecdote he'd remembered and wanted to shoe-horn in, and was therefore obviously true. I wouldn't mind it being a regular spot. Especially if it displaces his impressions, as it did this time.
