Would I lie to you (merged)

I rarely laugh out loud at a TV show but several times during Would I Lie To You? last night I was in hysterics! This is one of my favourite shows on TV!

Maybe they should be all wired up to lie detector machines?

Does it really matter if the stories are not 100% true? It's an entertainment show not a court of law.

Surely you exaggerate the facts in stories when telling them to frienRAB?

Did Chris Addison actually do much? Maybe I was too tired to concentrate last night, but I can't remember him even doing a round.

I know what you mean about that. I felt that last week's episode seemed a little subdued and this week's even more so; Holly Walsh definitely appeared scripted - not unfunny, just not spontaneous. However, neither episode was particularly substandard, they just suffered by comparison.

The one thing that does light up this show for me is something that has been highlighted before, that everyone, guests, captains, host and audience alike, seems to be having a blast. Something that causes that much enjoyment among its participants is definitely okay by me.

Loved the story Ronnie went into a store to buy four candles. Lee asked yes but was it four candles or fork handles. Yes said ronnie. Wish it had been true but surely you buy a box of candles anywhere not just four!

I would so love to see the full story, it was obviously edited, and someone posted on here the story went on for about 30 minutes and everyone was in tears of laughter :D David Mitchell is brilliant, love his rants 'NO YOU KEEP' :D

The show would be more entertaining if we could rely on the "true" stories being true.

Maybe you just watch passively. I enjoy playing along, and trying to guess whether a panellist is lying, based on whether their story holRAB together and their body language etc. If the "true" panellists can also lie, then it becomes impossible to know, because their stories and body language will be skewed.

Plus, yes, it does matter because it's the premise of the show. Just as it would matter if QI made stuff up. There is more to the format than witty banter, even if that's all you watch for.

Agreed with everyone saying it should be 45 minutes.

And yes, Peter's Wogan was quite shockingly good!

Wouldn't say no to Joanna or Patsy......

I think they cut his bit out to accommodate David and Lee's bits at the end which was probably funnier and took 9 minutes out if the 29.

You don't see all the stuff recorded which is probably between 45 minutes or an hour, you just get the headlines. Have you noticed the scores don't match the things we see.

I loved the dressing gown story - typical David Mitchell.

I guessed that it was Ruth Jones story about the tortoise and the recycling centre was true as I remember her mentioning it on Graham Norton's show.
Overall a good episode last night. In fact both this series have been very good.
