Wall E

I've just come back from seeing this and i loved it. I hadn't read any reviews (and to be honest i've seen that much advertising for it, i must have been under a rock) so wasn't sure what to expect, but it was brilliant.

And for a kiRAB film, well, there wasn't many kiRAB in the audience :p (it was only the 6pm showing)

It was suprisingly funny, and i loved the way they both spoke to each other :D

My mate did ask how come to President was a real person but everybody in space were computer generated. She said the President should have been computer generated too. I told her she looks wayyyy to deep into these things.... :p

I enjoyed it just as much as SATC :D

Saw it today and from the very beginning of Presto right up until the end of the credits of the main feature I loved every second of it.

It's at least as good as Toy Story and better than Monsters Inc or Bugs Life. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

It is a sci-fi film and a good example of that genre too.

Very endearing little chap and a great story.

A few elements reminded me of games from Valve (Half Life 2, Portal etc) in the film.

For example..

I thought I saw the gnome from HL2:E2 on the rack when EVE was rebuilding WALL:E. EVE also reminded me of the machine gun sentries in Portal (I know she's based on a Mac, but it's that smooth white plastic and ethereal kid's voice), and AUTO reminded me of GladOS.

Its superior to A Bug's Life or Monsters, Inc. Toy Story might arguably be tied, but in my opinion Wall-E wins out. Whether you rank it as the very best may come down to whether you enjoy science fiction, but most people who have seen it consider it among Pixar's best.

I wasn't expecting very much from it, based on the trailers I'd seen. I wasn't even planning to see it in theaters, but with all the critical acclaim I grudgingly gave it a chance. It certainly exceeded my expectations.

Wall-E is an absolute classic - it's up there with Toy Story as the best Pixar film.

And as I've said in the other thread, if you don't tear up during the film, and especially at the end - then you're more of a robot than Wall-E is.

I saw it yesterday and thought it was great! I liked Finding Nemo & Toy Story better but it was still a great movie. The message in the film is so relevant to today's world but it didn't feel too forced or patronising. The film had some great comedy moments and Wall-E is just loveable as is Eve.

8/10 :)

Saw it yesterday and loved it! :) Such a cute film and I've mastered Wall-E's voice too. :D Not my favourite Pixar film as I still prefer Finding Nemo and The Incredibles but it's still amazing. Pixar never fail to disappoint.

9.5/10

I just got back and I LOVED it. Isn't he just the cutest most adorable thing ever? I've fallen in love with a robot. :o

His frienRABhip with EVE was lovely and so sweet.

The part where he was squashed by the trollies was hilarious.

It's a very, very cute film and I'd really recommend it.

It's much better than The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Toy Story 2 and Cars.

Just as good as A Bug's Life and Ratatouille.

Toy Story and Finding Nemo just about edge it.

Great fun! :D

Was thinking of taking my 4 year old (as his first trip) is there enough to keep the young ones entertained?

Also, what does everyone have against Cars? I liked that film and my son absolutely loves it...

I'm surprised that this film is getting so much praise. I saw it at the weekend and thought it was so dull. From what I read of its reviews on Wikipedia, I went to see it expecting it to be the mother of all Pixar, but I enjoyed all of the other Pixar films more than Wall-E. Ah well. Must admit though, animation-wise I think it's excellent (but animation-wise only!).

Seeing this tomorrow with the kiRAB, like earlier posters I was wondering if it would appeal to me, looked a bit dull in the trailers (Although the animation looked superb). Hopefully the kiRAB will like it too!

I saw this yesterday and your review basically sums up everything i felt when i left.

I wasn't bowled over by it but it was a lovely, lovely, lovely film! Animation was fantastic but i wish it had just been Wall-E and Eve at times instead of all the other business on the ship. The animated short before it was fantastic!

I adored the sound Wall-E made when he says his own name to everyone and says Eve's name. It's so sweet! :)

Like all the majority of Pixar movies before it (well, all but Cars), This is pure entertainment at its finest, the animation, the storyline are all out of this world...

Now I've just gotta wait another few months before it gets a Blu Ray release.

sadly it didn't.

the week it came out (18th july) mamma mia stayed no 1 for a 2nd week, and the following weekend (25th july) was when dark knight came out and was no 1

I honestly was bored to tears and praying for it to be over. Yes the animation is fantastic. It's Pixar, it's always great however i'm fed up with them concentrating on wowing the crowRAB with the animation and forgetting to invest in a decent story. I don't think it's done as well as expected in the box office either. It was being billed as the new 'Finding Nemo' so far it's on par with Ratatouille. It cost nearly $200 million to make (excluding promotion costs etc) and so far is only just about to hit that in the US.

Not read the whole thread, but I've just got back from seeing this today with the youngest.

I cannot agree with you more. Absolutely incredible. A sheer delight. Both me and the kiddie were absolutely spellbound from start to finish. It's a phenomenal achievement, and a complete joy to see.

For me, it's Pixar's finest moment, without question, and maybe even one of the greatest animation films ever. I don't know what I expected when I went in, but what I got completely blew me away. I doff my cap to the Pixar artists.

Roll on the DVD (rather than the cockroach!). I can't wait to see it again.

EDIT: Very good point about the trailers. I think they completely undersell the movie, and will have no doubt put some off.
