Unpopular Music Opinions

Well, if anybody in the future complains that you've calibrated your musical genre boundaries incorrectly, then you can easily comfort yourself with the knowledge that your life hasn't degenerated such that you really care about those genres boundaries. Genres are for music shops!
 
yes, but it isnt our fault he was even born in the first place. THAT is canadas fault. but i still love Canada, i find toronto more interesting then all of the USA put together (except maybe LA or NYC)



havent downloaded em yet, i have listened to a few more of their songs though, i'll find and download the albums soon as i can
 
Please note most of the songs he listed are on the album "Turn On the Bright Lights"...their first and best album by far. Just listen to that album instead of hunting down those individual tracks...I don't think you will regret it. I love that album.
 
I can agree with that. Their first 3 albums are great. They only suffer from the fact that they get played nonstop on the radio and then I get tired of it very quickly. I guess that's why I prefer X&Y...singles off that album weren't played nearly as much as A Rush of Blood to the Head.
 
I know I've just popped into this, but I've never totally understood the feelings for U2 on this forum. They have 2 really good albums to me (War and Joshua Tree)...how can you say the first side of Joshua Tree isn't flawless? Any band would sell their souls to have 4 songs like that in a row.

I guess because Bono is Bono they get a lot of crap, but seriously they have made some great music.
 
oh, Neutral Milk Hotel also really gets on my nerves. I can listen to about 2 or 3 songs till I get sick of Magnum's (i think that's the name of the singers) voice. He might be a great lyricist, but he's a ****ty singer. I thought "on avery island" was better than "aeroplane." But mainly I find the band boring, with a few song exceptions.

Too much vocals in the band, they need to let go and let the actual music take over.
 
Why is this turning into an argument about politics and lyrics? RATM had far more than simply lyrics. They also had a more than capable rhythm section and Tom Morello.

And even if their lyrics can be simple, so what? Do some of you honestly think they would be able to preserve their sound while trying to spout off a 2 page political essay in the space of a song? Leave that to pure rap where the focus is on lyrics. Political lyrics don't have to be complicated.

Fair enough if you don't agree with the politics - but remeraber they're only lyrics! If you ignore any band which has contentious lyrics (i.e. racist or you simply don't agree with them), you're missing out on a lot.
