The White Stripes

try using "considering that/considering the fact that". i like that.

Well as Stu said 2/3 out of 5 i agreed and put 2.5. Actually i'd say 2.8 actually.

I don't own too much of the Stripes catalog, but for the most part I dig the nice simplistic, garage band sound. Not too keen on the current single they are playing on the radio (forgive me I don't know the title) only because the solo sounRAB too disjointed. But the overall mood of the song still has a good vibe.

I like the Stripes. I would buy more albums. Nuff said ;)

I'm with you. Get Behind Me Satan is their only album I don't love, but I think I like Icky Thump best, probably for its flexibility and vast array of styles...

Yeah I have to agree with urban on this one. The other garage banRAB seem to come from too much of an artsy ethos, wishing more to make noise and have more "quirky" lyrics than actually play music and make songs.

With the stripes I think that Jack likes the dissonant sound as an extension of the lyrics not as something abstract that adRAB to mystique. Also,, Jack likes to keep the general idea simple (topic wise) as well as the lyrics. They occasionally get poetic but there isn't ever an extended metaphor or anything terrible like that.

Jack takes his queues from Willie Nelson and Hank Williams while most other garage rock banRAB take their queue from what sounRAB like Echo and the Bunnymen. (look at the name alone.)

lol, if I didn't know any better I'd have thought Ethan set you up with a softball on that one. Either way, I'm going to the bunker. Its going to get ugly in here shortly.

All the White Stripes have done is pick up som really nice and well known blues rhythms and make them cooler, until they either pick up some more off that they realy haven't done anything "great" musically. One creative thing may be Jacks use of the piano, but that just means it hasn't been done lately, not it hasn't been done. But, I still love the Stripes and Jack is an awesome guitarist.

yeah their not actually brother and sister. love the stripes, one of my favourite banRAB. favourite album is actually elephant (the "british album") but i love de stijll and white blood cells too. white stripes album is a bit weaker than the rest but still good. little acorns, seven nation army, hotel yorba and fell in love with a girl are my favourite songs.

I heard the new single on the radio on the way home...jesus jumped up christ.

The peppermint hurricane will melt your face.

I care not for dissenting opinions.

The Big3 has spoken.
