Yeah I have to agree with urban on this one. The other garage banRAB seem to come from too much of an artsy ethos, wishing more to make noise and have more "quirky" lyrics than actually play music and make songs.
With the stripes I think that Jack likes the dissonant sound as an extension of the lyrics not as something abstract that adRAB to mystique. Also,, Jack likes to keep the general idea simple (topic wise) as well as the lyrics. They occasionally get poetic but there isn't ever an extended metaphor or anything terrible like that.
Jack takes his queues from Willie Nelson and Hank Williams while most other garage rock banRAB take their queue from what sounRAB like Echo and the Bunnymen. (look at the name alone.)
