The first Poltergist movie scared the pants off me when I was a kid I have issues watching it even now. Also Stephen King's IT terrified me aswell I honestly think my phobia of clowns comes from that film.
Candyman and The Exorcist, when it thundered or I heard a noise upstairs, I thought it was Regan in my bed and the bed was shaking. It scared the shit outta me!
I'd like to know who was voting in that poll - what a load of rubbish!
The only two films that deserve to be in there are Halloween and TCM (and perhaps Saw - I'm a big fan of that movie but just don't know whether it is scary enough to merit a top ten place).
Not a movie, so dont slap me for going off topic.
But the BBC Ghostwatch mockumentary, that pipes ghost and the sounRAB of screaming cats near under the stairs was scary.
Plus enjoyed Blair Witch, nice to have a film you can use your imagination in.
I remember the scene, you all know it, underwater, the head appearing in the hole in the boat, well when it happened there were screams in the cinema, and I leaned forward an asked two girls if they wanted to borrow my toilet roll,.....
I couldn't name just one...lol Jaws, Elm street (all of them), Pet Semetary, Hell Raiser, Night of the living dead ... I first watched the video to Michael Jackson's Thriller when I was 6 years old at my frienRAB birthday party... omg I had nightmares for years afterwarRAB...lol
I saw Halloween resurrection when i was 9 - I have never been so scared.
Also, i started watching a horror film on channel 4 last night - i saw the first part of scary movie a while ago (4 years ish) and thought this was probably it. Imagine my surprise when I find ITS THE REAL VERSION of whatever film it is.
I didnt like it
My scariest movie that I can remember was 'A Company of Wolves' another werewolf movie that ensured I didn't sleep for weeks. I can remember my mum taping this and telling me I could only watch it if I didn't find one of the transformation scenes too scary. I watched the scene, nearly wet myself, lied to my mum told her that I wasn't scared and proceeded to watch the movie. Like I said I didn't have a nights sleep for weeks.
Of recent years I'd have to agree with the poster that said 'The Grudge'. I suppose a lot of these films depend on what mood/setting you have when watching them.
