The one horror film that scared the pants off you as a kid

The one thing I remember when thinking about what I found scary as a kid was actually just the poster in the local video shop for a movie, I think it must have been "House", it had a house with a scary face in the clouRAB above it. SounRAB silly but I found it really scary.

Out of the movies I actually watched, I'd probably say Creep Show 2. But I did actually love it as well as being totally terrified by it! Especially the hitch-hiker segment.

I totally agree. The Haunting (1963 version) was brilliant. Mind you it was not a "horror" film but one of the few "ghost" ones

Has to be 'American Werewolf in London' for me, the moors scene and the transformation and above all those Nazi Werewolf killers, kept me awake for weeks!

Also the Hammer House of Horror programs on TV, used to give me serious scares, remember one set in Africa with a poisonous snake that ended up in the guys bed with him, I blame that for my current snake phobia at 36!
 
What's that one with donald sutherland in and he's chasing around the little girl with the red coat on? going a few years back. scared me as a kid when he caught up with her!!!
 
Rawhead Rex

I was scared of the darkness, and woodland areas for ages afterwarRAB. This was way back in 1988 when I was 10 years old. It is a little dated now the movie, but if they remade this movie it would do Rex justice with the makeup effects of today. The movie was poorly done when you look back at it, storyline, etc. A remake is in order I think.
 
i think i watched the first few bits of american werewolf in london and turned it off coz i s**t myself, i was only 8 at the time and i had the volume really really loud.i think thats the only movie i was ever scared of when i was really young
 
I don't remember the name but it was about 2 young girls, they were twins with blonde hair and blue eyes.

And when they stared at someone it made them do something bad.

I think thy made someone stick their hand in a deep fat fryer.

Does anyone know the name?

Scared me shitless.
 
Oooh - I think I remember that. Can you remember what it was called? I seem to recall that the kid was called Bobby. It was an American TV movie wasn't it - around the early 80s?
