The Most Overrated Movies ever

I liked it but it wasn't the comedy it was billed as. Also Jennifer Aniston's film 'The Good Girl' was billed as a comedy but blatantly wasn't - it was soooo depressing!

Brokeback Mountain?!?!

Did you not understand how hearbreakingly (not sure if that's spelt right...) sad it was?? :(

In my opinion, it's a brilliant film that truely deserves all the praise it gets, but I'm interested to know why you thought it was overrated?

One more I have thought of - Leon. A great performance by all involved (especially Gary Oldman) but the film was a major letdown for me.

The original Star Wars trilogy is a masterpiece, the new ones however stink as much as I wanted to enjoy them.

Vanilla sky gets my vote also, hype hype hype.. drivvle

Lord of the rings doesn't interest me at all, in the slighest, I havn't seen them so I can't pass judgement on that.

The original Matrix is great, the other two however were a letdown.

Alien versus predator was a major letdown, first 3/4 of the movie setting up the darn plot and getting them all together, then a rushed last quarter of the movie which didn't make up for the wait.

No, you're not wrong. The first hour of the movie is taken up with the wedding, which is waaaaaaay too long.

It only picks up the pace when they guys go for the deer hunt.

Titanic, Braveheart and Brokeback Mountain i agree they are overrated, but Harry Potter is a brilliant film and the special effects and story is good. Lord of the ring in my opinion is pure and utter crap. So boring the title itself annoys me. I know alot of people love lord of the rings, but we all have got different tastes in movies.

There is one film i think is overrated but it is a good one and it is called The Exorcist and another one is Jaws. The Blair Witch Project and Saw are overrated too, along with Along Came Polly and The Good Girl are also overrated.

more films overrated

1. Goodfellas
2. Kill Bill vol 1 & 2 (awesome movies)
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Grease
5. The Sound of Music
6. The Shining
7. Gremlins 1 and 2
8. Spider-Man
9. X-MEN

thats all i can think of

LOTR? Seriously?! Well, OK, each to their own!

Bring it On isn't over-rated - it's genuinely agreed the film is naff I do believe ;)

Also - to all those who said the Matrix...I will agree with the second two being over-rated (the second was plain awful by comparison) but the first was spectacular, and I won't hear otherwise. No. I just won't. *Refuses*

;)

lost in translation! I love movies and will pretty much watch anthing, this film however I fell asleep in... I cant believe it 5 stars with some critics and was up 4 nominations!!

*wooooosh*

That's the sound of The Matrix films going over my head.

A bit obscure this one but Breaking the Waves from 1996. A British film that got five stars from every quality newspaper and mag at the time. It was the dullest THREE hours of my life.

Personally I thought the LOTR Trilogy involved many themes and provoked thought *shrugs*

And you're all still wrong about The English Patient :p

I know Kill Bill has already been mentioned, but my other half made me watch the first one saying it was the best thing he had seen for ages, and I found it to be utter tripe. I think it was spoilt as you knew there was a second one and that all the fight scenes she did, she would come out okay. I got so bored with her constantly fighting people.
