The Dark Knight: Official Thread - No Spoilers

Don't worry, I've thought that ever since I saw the dreadful 'The Prestige' (Batman Begins isn't much better, but it's at least 'okay' when compared to TDK).

I do though still love Memento and Insomnia. :)

If describing scenes/actions and describing in detail who does what to who, etc in a movie yet to be released isn't a spoiler, then i don't know what is!

Each to their own! :D

So if people say they dont like the film in this thread , they seem to get ripped apart. Everybody is different and everybody likes different things and people should be aloud to say they didnt like it, if thats how they feel

Think that was the November or December issue. It was a pretty amazing cover!

I cannot wait to see this movie. As someone said before, I just hope it's not over hyped. I'm waiting for my email alert from the Vue to tell me when I can book tickets, not had it yet.

Adverts are saying previews on the 24th, so trying for that day. I want to see it with all the die hard fans, not just people who stroll into the cinema & can't decide what to watch (do you know what I mean!?)

I think, had it been trimmed of the last half hour
- i.e. and left out all the un-necessary Two-Face stuff -
it could have been a truly great film. As it is, at 2 1/2 hours, it's too long and it runs out of steam toward the end
, from roughly where the guy claims he's going to expose Batman and Joker makes his hospital threat.
From that point on, the focus shifts away from the character the film should have stayed with
- Joker - and, IMO, un-necessarily shifts onto Two Face.

I don't know what the Hell Bale thought he was doing. His Batman 'voice' is ridiculous, and he justs sleepwalks his way through the Wayne characterisation. Ledger, on the other hand, is superb. OTT enough to make Joker a fully-fledged psychopath - which I think is a must for this role - but not so much that it left you with a hunger for some eggs to go with it. However, I don't know what all this Oscar talk is about. It's a good performance, but not a great one. Maybe if it's a weak year he might get a Supporting Actor nod out of misplaced Academy sympathy.

Why oh why Nolan didn't simply make him the only villian is beyond me. Why not make it a straight Batman v Joker film and hold the Two Face storyline over to the next one?

Overall, 7/10.

It's good to see a few people here looking beyond the hype and the visual spectacle and seeing the film for what it really is (IMHO ........ ) and that's a barely cohesive mess.

If Nolan was a cook and The Dark Knight was a cake he had baked, it would look fantastic but be barely edible and give you a rather lousy case of indigestion. :)

Ooh thanks for that, and for replying! Yeah, im actually really excited now about watching it. As i said, im not a big superhero fan, but i do like Christian Bale & Maggie Gyllenhaal. Really looking forward to my IMAX experience now lol

Hell yeah! I know exactly what you mean!:p At my local Cineworld this is so common lol. You're standing in the queue waiting to be served and you see the rest looking up at the screens going through the list of films to watch and in the worRAB of the mighty Alan Sugar they 'dont have a bloody clue!' :D Hilarious!

Don't forget folks! Some of you will be seeing The Dark Knight tonight, a lot of you tomorrow and the majority on Friday so remember to post your non-spoiler reviews of TDK on the official The Dark Knight thread! :)

Yeah, that's right, THIS one! :D

I actually did really like it. Purely because it wasn't all kiddie magazine. The whole Rachel/Wanye/Harvey stuff was crap but I did like Harvey. Esp when
he became two face
It was good showing how he changed into what he became.

Heath was fabulous but Bale got on my nerves but with the wisper Batman voice.

Hope they do a 3rd though. I think Scarlett Johansson would be fabulous as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Have you seen the various posters for The Dark Knight and wondered how many there are and what they all look like?

Absolutely fantastic posters! My personal favourite is No 4

What's your favourite?

Of course they're allowed, I've already said that:).

What I don't agree with is when people make a personal judgement about the entire group who disagree with them which I find grossly unfair and this goes for both sides BTW, people who like the Film and those who don't.

Personally I really loved this Movie and it's not because of "all the hype", I for one have always been a huge Fan of the "Batman" Franchise so I've always been looking forward to this Film anyway and IMO this Film managed to tick all the right boxes for me as a Fan. I've already done a Reveiw on this, it's in the "Spoilers" Thread (and a couple of my other opinions on there too which also adRAB to my Review in a way) so if you want to see why I liked it go there and see for yourself and THAT's why I loved this Movie:). All I'll say is that this has now become one of my favorite Films of all time:).

Saying all that I've got nothing against those who DON'T like it though which is fair enough their opinion at the end of the day. Agree to disagree:).

I too disliked Bale's Batman voice - sounded rather silly to say the least. From reading various messages it seems to be the main and most common complaint, even among the Batman fanboyz.

The above is a website where you can view episodes of Gotham Tonight, a tv news show. These television news episodes serve as a prequel to The Dark Knight film and in one (above link) features an interview with Harvey Dent which actually interconnects with the Imax prologue of the bank robbery which starts the film off.

Worth a view and all the episodes prior to it.

Don't miss out!

I saw yesterday at the Bradford Imax and I have got to say I have never experienced anything like it before. The cityscape scenes were specatacular and as the OP says you actually feel like you are swooping over Gotham. You you are planning to see the Dark Knight, and live anywhere near an Imax, you must see it there rather than a normal cinema. Believe me the extra expense will be worth it.

Best film of the year so far IMO. Agree with some of the posters that perhaps it should have been a 15. Harvey Dent's face was horrific.
