The Dark Knight: Official Thread - No Spoilers

How old is your son? Personally, I don't think it's a film for children. I won't go into anything on here as I don't want to spoil anything. :)

In terms of what I thought:
Very good, not AS good as the media are making out but I really did enjoy it. Some surprises in there & I didn't think it was confusing at all, but then I'm glad I rewatched Begins last week as I did feel I may have missed some stuff.

Our showing was sold out (7pm) & so was the later one at 8 so if you're going in the day you may be ok but be warned, the kiRAB are on holiday so it may be busier than normal.

I think its more people who like to be snobs, and think they have a better understanding of the cinema and "a good movie" then anyone else, and like to try and make the rest of us feel stupid for apparantly "falling for the hype". Thats why any successful hyped up movie can never do right in their eyes!

To completely slate the movie is ridiculous, I beleive there are enough journalists and reviewers out there that would say it was a bad movie if it actually was.

IMDB, Empire... they wouldnt rate the movie highly if it was absolute rubbish! It may not be perfect, but no movie is!

If you didnt enjoy Batman begins, I think its ridiculous going to see TDK then complaining you didnt like it..... it would be like going to see The Godfather not liking it.... and then going to see the sequel and complain how you feel dissapointed because you didnt enjoy it!

Awesome film, 10/10 without a doubt. If you are still trying to decide whether to see this or not then stop thinking about it and go.

All of the cast were great, Christian Bale is an excellent Bruce Wayne/Batman. Aaron Eckhart is fantastic as Harvey Dent and Gary Oldman is superb as Gordon. Not forgetting Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine either, there is absolutely no weak link in the casting at all.

Final word has to go to Heath Ledger though, his Joker is twisted and psychotic with a good line in comedy. It is a powerhouse performance from him and makes Jack Nicholson's version look like he should be in an episode of Noddy.

Heath must get at least an oscar nomination for this role, if he doesn't get an oscar i have to see the performance that gets it ahead of him...

It is a tragedy that Heath is gone, how he can go from the Brokeback performance to the Joker is incredible - 2 enRAB of the spectrum both carried off superbly. I can only imagine how good he would have gone on to become as he matured.:(

So, anyone who didn't like TDK is a snob? Well, if that fits your world view then so be it.

What a strange way of thinking. I like to give things a chance and I know that Nolan IS capable of making good films, hence I HOPED that TDK would be better than BB (which was watchable, only barely so).

Who could honestly say, with hand on heart, that the writing and story for TDK is worthy of a 10/10 score? Both are pretty lousy. But, well, I guess it's just not up to my 'snobbish' high standarRAB .............

So you could only "barely" stand Batman Begins but still went to see The Dark Knight which carried on from the first film and had the same cast and director?

Sorry but if I didn't like one film I certainly wouldn't go and see its sequel expecting it to be totally different. That's just stupid.

Yes, he has. He said... "it was boring in parts, it drags on and it's only successful because Heath died. If he was still alive, there wouldn't be much fuss being made over it."

I'm still gonna go see it at the weekend, though!

Paddy :D

You might as well just start with Batman Begins as it is not in the same series as the previous films, it is a restart to the franchise.

Watch Batman and Batman Returns too.

Saw it last night. Absolutely superb.

If you enjoyed Batman Begins, you will love this. If you haven't seen Batman Begins then don't see this - you miss out on the backgrounRAB and character arcs.

Its not perfect, but no film is. A lot of people read rave reviews and then go in with completely unrealistic expectations. This film is VERY good. Extremely well made.

I need to see it a couple more times at the cinema!

I hated Batman Begins and I had no intention to watch TDK as the trailer looked boring. I was forced to go watch it last night and I can honestly say it was fantastic. Gripping stuff throughout and I can't wait to watch it again. It's was amazingly good. The two villians stole the show!

Well I'm a 17 year old girl and I loved it! :)
I actually much preferred it to Batman Begins, and the Joker was genuinely brilliant.

I'd say that it gets away with a lot for a 12A though, I was a bit creeped out myself in some places! :o

To whet your TDK appetites even further i introduce to you
a Comcast website for The Dark Knight: http://www.comcast.net/thedarkknightmovie/

I absolutely love the design of this website! It's brilliant and you have to view it with the sound on, it gives you goosebumps! Especially when you hear The Joker!

The site contains amongst others all TDK trailers, TDK poster downloaRAB and wallpapers and most impressive of all featurette videos on the Imax prologue and the making of the clown masks, and more!

Check out the illuminating Bat symbol! :D

You've saved yourself a good deal of torment then! Nevermind it being the worst Batman film, it is one of the worse films I've ever seen, full stop. I'd only recommend watching it to give yourself a full appreciation of what Nolan and co. accomplished with Batman Begins.

Here's a few of the 'highlights':

And welcome to RAB MrSuper. :) Ditto tumtumtum. :)

I finally saw TDK advertised at the pictures today. Well, yesterday now. It's about time. I must have seen about 5 trailers for that silly Meet Dave and zlich for TDK up until now.

From the BBFC; rated 12

THE DARK KNIGHT tells the story of Batman’s continuing war on crime and in particular his personal battle with the psychotic Joker. It was passed ‘12A’ for moderate violence and sustained threat.

The BBFC Guidelines at ‘12A’ state that ‘violence must not dwell on detail’ and that ‘there should be no emphasis on injuries or blood’ and whilst THE DARK KNIGHT does contain a good deal of violence, all of it fits within that definition. For example, in one of the stronger scenes, Batman repeatedly beats the Joker during an interrogation. The blows however are all masked from the camera and despite both their weight and force; the Joker shows injury. There are also scenes in which the Joker threatens first a man and then a woman with a knife and whilst these do have a significant degree of menace, they were also acceptably placed at ‘12A’.
THE DARK KNIGHT also contains some special make up effects that whilst clearly not real, have the potential to be moderately frightening.
This work was passed with no cuts made.

i saw it and i liked it, it was really good except i missed a bit to go to the toilet because its 2 and a half hours long lol
